Social Strategist

We’re currently hiring for a Social Strategist. We have main offices in Minneapolis and Chicago, but are open to any location or REMOTE. At the center of this role is creating and overseeing content that earns attention.

The Team

This role will sit on our growing social media and influencer team, and will work on large, fast-paced and collaborative clients such as Hotels.com. The team is comprised of one director who oversees all social and influencer work, two associate directors and one strategist. ICF Next is an integrated agency and this role will be a crucial member of integrated teams that include members of PR, media, insights, analytics and paid media.

The Work

This role is an essential part of the team and the agency. The strategist will have the opportunity to set strategies and develop tactics for large consumer brands in several verticals including: alcohol, travel, lifestyle, finance and more. They will be the point person for social platform best practices and updates and integration. They will establish relationships with influencers from celeb down to nano. This role is for the pop culture junkie who is obsessed with the intersection of brands and pop culture. This role should understand how social media fits into integrated plans, and creatively drive change for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have a finger on the pulse of today’s ever-changing social media and influencer landscape to help our clients innovate and push their brands forward.

  • Collaborate across client and creative teams in contributing to creative ideas and guiding social content (video, images, graphics, live and text).

  • Craft Instagram Stories, Tweets, Facebook posts, and live social coverage, that people want to share and engage with.

  • Foster relationships with influencers across several verticals including food, beverage, travel, tourism, healthcare and more.

  • Facilitate negotiations and contracts with influencers of all sizes – nano to mega (celeb).

  • Have the ability to listen, ideate and move quickly to develop content that reacts to culture.

  • Marry content, video, copywriting and creative into one comprehensive plan.

  • Embrace new and innovative ways to tell stories on social.

  • Report back using data to gather social learnings and share among a wider team.

  • Provide content performance analysis, communicate and implement timely optimizations to drive results.

  • Lead day-to-day execution of clients’ social media strategies including community management, content development and posting, social listening and contributing creative ideas.

As a Social Strategist you are:

  • A natural content creator, with a passion for storytelling and concept creation.

  • A natural wordsmith, and can articulate deep, emotional, or funny messages in under 140 characters.

  • Experienced in well-written, grammatically correct, engaging copy.

  • A great judge of what works and what doesn't, and someone eager to keep learning and adjusting strategy as needed.

  • Passionate about pop culture and aware of and follower of other tastemakers and influencers.

  • Obsessed with social media and have a rock-solid understanding of creating, promoting, and distributing shareable content across multiple platforms.

  • Ability to see beyond social media and understand how everything is connected and works together across digital ecosystems, user experiences and earned media.

  • Thirst for knowledge and creative inspiration around social media.

  • Collaborative, positive and demonstrates a high level of maturity and presence.

  • A creative problem solver, who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Obsessed with attention to detail.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related professional experience

  • Agency experience strongly preferred

  • Previous experience influencing the social strategy for iconic consumer brands

  • Experience with social media listening and management tools
