Job Description:

The staff level Software Engineer works across the software development life cycle on low-complexity initiatives or under the mentorship of senior level Software Engineers for higher-complexity initiatives. This includes requirements definition, prototyping, detailed design, coding, testing, deployment, and support of the day-to-day operation of production systems.

The staff level Software Engineer is expected to collaborate with technical staff, management, and business operations staff throughout all phases of the software development life cycle to deliver working solutions for low to moderately complex business problems according to agreed upon timelines to support the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health. Abilities encompass a broad knowledge within the software development domain. Typically implements designs developed by others, adhering to enterprise standards and best practices. Functions independently and produces results that meet standards of quality, timeliness, and acceptability with minimal supervision and general direction. Works as a team player, providing ideas and support to peers and engineering team leadership.

Essential Functions

  • Develop : Develop "best-in-class" engineering solutions by ensuring that the components are well-defined, modularized, secure, reliable, actively monitored and reusable. Moderate proficiency in JavaScript, Python, Java or C# with demonstrable practices in software design principles, data structures, and algorithms.

  • Document : Maintain clear documentation for code, designs, and processes.

  • Security : Follow secure coding practices, implement appropriate security measures, and stay informed about potential security vulnerabilities and threats.

  • Deployment and Maintenance : Be familiar with deployment processes, version control systems (e.g., Git), continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and monitoring tools to ensure that software deployments are smooth, and any issues are addressed promptly.

  • Methodology : Work within an agile team including understanding how to participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming and sprint retrospectives. Knowledge of software development methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum, and experience working in an Agile environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

  • 1 year of professional software development experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, programming, or another technical field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

OR

  • 3 years of professional software development experience.

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$48.27 - $76.00
