Senior/Staff/Lead Technical Writer, Revenue Cloud

Hello! We’re the Revenue Cloud Content Experience team. We help the world’s most recognized brands create innovative, personalized shopping experiences across mobile, social, web, and more!

Technical writers at Salesforce produce documentation and content experiences that help customers get the most out of our products. We work closely with other writers, product managers, engineers, and the User Experience team in an Agile development environment to produce interactive training (, in-app assistance, help, guides, and videos for administrators, users, and developers. We’re passionate about innovating and developing solution-oriented content strategies that deliver the right content, the right way, at the right time.

You’re a problem solver with excellent people skills who knows what your customers need. You have proven experience writing easy-to-read help, UI text, and guides, and creating videos, tutorials, and other user assistance for enterprise business applications. You're a great match if you're self-directed, passionate about technology, produce high-quality documentation, and understand how your work contributes to the overall success of the product. You understand that autonomy and teamwork aren’t opposing, but complementary, values. You will support scrum teams located in the U.S. and India, and use the latest tools and processes in an Agile development environment to deliver the best work of your career!

Our Ideal Team Member

  • Has experience making challenging, complex ideas, concepts, and tasks understandable and appealing to diverse audiences. Maybe that means you have past experience as a software engineer, technical or marketing writer, or some other realm where engaging an audience with compelling content and storytelling is absolutely essential.

  • Has a creative side. We’re looking to push the envelope on authoring engaging and inspiring text that gives our users moments of delight without irritating them.

  • Knows that being a technical writer involves digging into what you’re writing about so you understand not just how it works, but why it matters to the people using it; serving as the voice of our users when collaborating with scrum teams; figuring out the best way to serve our customers; and finding ways of connecting with the folks who use our docs to get their feedback.

  • Has the flexibility and openness to adopt our team’s style, processes, and practices, but isn’t afraid to suggest improvements that will benefit our writers, our collaborators, or our customers.

  • Is an excellent juggler. Bonus points if you can literally juggle, but what’s most important is that you’re able to handle multiple tasks, projects, and initiatives at the same time while also keeping your cool.

  • Really enjoys working closely as part of a team, and has the people and communication skills to do that well, and can also carve out focused time in a busy day to get work done independently.

  • Loves writing for a variety of technical audiences—from admins to developers. You might have a favorite audience, but you can write content that's engaging and informative for anyone.

  • Knows how to gracefully accept feedback without taking it personally. Many folks across Salesforce, particularly executives, have strong opinions about the experience we present to customers. You’ll need to know when to push back and when to adopt.

Required Experience/Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience documenting software for technical audiences.

  • Ability to write clean, concise, and approachable content for diverse audiences.

  • Ability to quickly learn complex technologies.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple deliverables within tight deadlines.

  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, communications, or writing field, or equivalent experience.

Desired Experience/Skills:

  • Experience documenting CRM, SaaS, or enterprise-class client/server software.

  • Experience with source control software such as Perforce.

  • Experience with XML-based authoring tools such as Oxygen.

  • Knowledge of DITA and structured authoring.

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.

  • Experience writing API documentation.

  • Working familiarity with code (able to read and maybe write samples).
