Wolters Kluwer Senior Technical Writer in Boston, Massachusetts

The Senior Technical Writer is responsible for developing and maintaining the documentation for Wolters Kluwer Financial Services products like GainsKeeper. The documentation includes XML/XSD Specifications, system administrator manual, installation guides, quick reference guides and release notes. This position includes a fully remote work option.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Develop new content based on resource documents (functional and technical specifications) and interviews with SMEs

  • Maintain and update existing documentation to support ongoing product enhancements

  • Provide accurate work estimates for documentation tasks

  • Manage assigned projects to ensure successful and timely delivery of documentation

  • Maintain TFS documentation tasks by updating the task history and hours spent, and attaching any significant related documentation

  • Work independently on multiple tasks and projects

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team, including Business Analysts, Developers, Quality Assurance Engineers, and Project Managers

  • Follow Style Guides, templates, and other Wolters Kluwer guidelines that ensure a consistent look and feel to the documentation

  • Assist in other projects as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, or IT-related (MA/MS degree highly desirable)

  • Five years or more of related work experience. Specific Investment industry experience is highly preferred.

  • Experience with technical writing for commercially-marketed software

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with financial concepts (such as cost basis, wash sales, debt processing, Code of Ethics compliance) that are essential to the product domain

  • Knowledge of different security types, including fixed income, options and futures

  • Familiarity with XML structure and syntax

  • Highly skilled in the use of:

  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio

  • Screen capture tools and graphic editors

  • Adobe Acrobat

  • Online help authoring tools

  • SharePoint

  • Source Code collaboration and data storage tools such as Microsoft TFS
