The IBM Systems marketing team is the voice behind the company’s IT infrastructure portfolio, which includes our legendary IBM Z and LinuxONE systems for fully-encrypted, large-scale transaction processing, including blockchain; Power, a new generation of servers and software purpose-built for AI and high-performance computing and the industry’s broadest portfolio of enterprise-scale all-flash and software-defined storage solutions. This portfolio contributes over $5B+ to the product line revenue for IBM.

About the Role

You’ve had jobs, but have you had impact? The IBM Z and LinuxONE lines of secure enterprise servers and software are on the front-lines of industry innovation for a multi-billion dollar business. You: are curious, tenacious, have a commercial mindset, and have successes and stories to share. This role is expected to bring an IT security focus to the organization, and experience with IT security is a requirement for the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as voice of the customer for the IT security persona, buyer needs, purchasing decision making and segmentation, leveraging market research, sales feedback and industry events

  • Develop source messaging used by customers (self-serve) and sellers (partners, inside sales) which aligns to master brand narratives, conveys the product value proposition and drives competitive differentiation in the market

  • Design and deliver high-value thought leadership content, event presentations and event experiences, working with analysts, thought leaders and content marketing

  • Own marketing business planning including segmentation, launch plans, the marketing calendar. Guide the WW campaigns and Market teams in regions to implement campaigns and measure success

  • Ensure success of marketing pipeline back to the product line, proactively working with the field to identify and address pipeline gaps or blockers, opportunities to accelerate the sales cycle and opportunities to improve conversion and win rates

This position will be located in IBM offices in New York City or Raleigh, NC.

Must have the ability to work in the US without current/future need for IBM sponsorship.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Domain Knowledge – exposure in IT Security space ; prior work with CISO persona

  • Functional Expertise - 5+ years in a Product Marketing, Product Strategy or Product Management discipline in an IT or Software environment

  • Marketing Expertise – comfort with B2B buyer’s journey, content and tactics, both digital and in-person

  • Ability to work with Industry Analysts and Thought Leaders to shape/develop content

  • Ability to author blogs, presentations for their own, or others’ bylines

  • Ability to work with Excel for data / segmentation analysis

  • Commercial mindset; demonstrated ability to grow a product line through actions

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Industry Expertise – prior experience in Financial or Government sector is a plus
