Thermo Fisher Scientific Senior Product Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for developing and implementing global product strategies to accelerate the growth of BioProduction business. Reporting to the General Manager of the Supplements business, the Senior Product Manager will be managing the Peptone product portfolio, and supporting market analysis, planning, and commercial strategy. Key success metrics of this position are revenue growth, portfolio profitability, and new product introductions.

  • Developing mid-range product strategies and guide fiscal planning for future positioning, growth, and evolution of the product platform. This includes identifying, establishing and managing strategic relationships with customers, suppliers and industry opinion leaders.

  • Be a key opinion leader (KOL) for their product line, represent Thermo Fisher Scientific externally at conferences and tradeshows, able to effectively communicate product strategy and tactics to the market.

  • Champion successful launches through requirements, development, and commercialization. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Sr Product Manager owns the ultimate customer and financial success of new product introductions (NPIs).

  • Responsible for revenue, margin, customer satisfaction, and market share objectives.

  • Serve as product champion with internal stakeholders, regional teams, and directly with customers including key accounts.

  • An effective performer will maintain close relationships with field organization (e.g., sales and technical support) through training and active participation in the sales process, including customer visits, participating with pricing tactics, and customer support.

  • Provides input to business unit annual strategic plan development including STRAP and AOP

  • Champion new product directions: work across functions to develop business opportunities for revenue growth (organic and inorganic) and cost reduction and use voice of customer research. Develop long-term product roadmap according to business strategy.

  • Partner closely with commercial organization to support price and supply agreement negotiations.

  • Develop business cases for investments and present to general manager / senior leadership.

  • Provide market input and voice of customer to the Operations function. Support product planning in conjunction with manufacturing and planning teams to deliver optimal service levels for products; analyze profitability and monitor key financial indicators.

  • Develop and manage strategic collaborations for product partnerships. Lead cross-functional teams with R&D, operations, commercial groups and external partners to execute programs.

Preferred background/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in scientific field required

  • Master’s in scientific field or MBA strongly preferred

  • Ph.D. in scientific field is preferred

  • Minimum 6+ years, product management, R&D or market development experience.

  • Experience working directly with customers.

  • Experience leading cross functional teams and influencing cross functional stakeholders

  • Advanced knowledge of global cell culture and cell therapy markets and competitive landscape.

  • Working knowledge of quality and regulatory requirements for the products.

  • In depth technical understanding of product portfolio including the customer workflow and requirements

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Products: PowerPoint, Excel., PowerBI

  • Ability to work with teams across the global and cultural difference.

  • Self-starter with the ability to create and execute plans with minimal supervision.

  • Strong management, project management and planning skills, and comfortable making decisions and embracing changes.

  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in matrix organizational structure.

  • Outcome orientation and a strong desire to plan to measure the success of initiatives.

  • Proven ability to identify strategic opportunities, set aggressive objectives, and drive key business priorities.

Travel: approximately 30% globally
