SUMMARY The Sr. Software Product Manager (“Sr. Product Manager”) provides day-to-day leadership for a cross-functional software delivery team made up of engineers, quality assurance engineers and user-experience designers. The Sr. Product Manager also works closely with the Project Management Organization to ensure timely delivery and cross-team coordination of schedules and dependencies. The Sr. Product Manager is involved throughout every stage of life cycle (idea, definition, design, development, release, and post-release activities). Maintain and groom a product backlog while understanding its role in the broader strategic picture

Qualifications
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Elicit, manage and prioritize requirements throughout the product development lifecycle
Define, measure, and socialize success metrics for the product or product family
Maintain close relationships with internal stakeholders in order to communicate the product roadmap & upcoming releases, as well as gather feedback on customer and prospect needs or technical issues & requirements
Be the technical liaison between customers and the engineering and architecture groups
Evaluate new technologies that may be incorporated into future releases of the product or product family
Forge strategic links / partnerships with other internal groups & initiatives within Pearson
Assist in crafting Pearson’s marketing position and public relations messages
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering etc.)
-Minimum of 3 years product management experience including the following:
-Development of large-scale, web-based systems / portals
-Managing product development for multiple development teams or initiatives simultaneously -Working both horizontally and vertically with multiple cross-functional teams from UX to Product Marketing & Strategy
Working in an Agile development environment (Scrum preferred)
Building and consuming web services (preferred)
-Minimum of 3 years experience in a software development environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Understanding of customer needs, preferably in the eLearning & distance learning industry
Excellent analytical and problem-solving / critical thinking skills
Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to identify opportunities
A curious mind that can create and improve user experiences
Ability to evangelize and be the advocate for a product or strategy
Ability to present ideas and plans clearly, and confidently to all levels of management and customers
Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams
Ability to make sound and timely decisions
Ability to manage multiple projects during the same time period effectively
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with business and technical teams
Ability to conduct primary and secondary consumer research
