What will you do?
The Sr Product Manager role is responsible for the Ion Gene Studio and Ion Chef businesses supporting Thermo Fisher's next-generation sequencing solutions. In this role the candidate will manage sustaining activities for the previously mentioned products including operations planning, guiding service and commercial teams, participating in technology development and roadmap discussions, and working with cross-functional teams within the Clinical Sequencing Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
This is a pivotal role in a highly matrixed organization where you will interact with Customers, R&D, Sales, Support, Marketing, Finance, Executives, IT, Legal, Manufacturing, Operations, Regulatory, Customer Service and more, across many countries and time zones. In this role you will be fully responsible for supporting business opportunities where Gene Studio systems are key to making customers successful and demonstrate Thermo Fisher's leadership in the space.

Provide day-to-day product management guidance for sustaining products and new product initiatives.
Ownership of the product Roadmap with a short, mid, and long-term view.
In-depth expert product knowledge to help guide the direction of the product to be in line with the company's overall vision.
Market oversight to stay ahead of customer needs and competition.
Voice-of-customer (VOC) collection to gather new or validate existing product requirements to ensure our products continue to meet our customer's needs.
Establish key relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize communication and productivity.
Strategic thinker and tactical executioner.
Prioritize requirements with a keen eye on business benefit.
Create executive reports to monitor the health of the business.
How will you get there?
BS, Masters or PhD(preferred) in systems engineering, molecular biology, biochemistry/biophysics or equivalent.
Master's in business (MBA) preferred but not essential.
Previous experience in Product Management of next-generation sequencing technologies is highly preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a product management role for a life science software and/or consumable products.
Ability to lead and manage through influence.
Ability to collect, synthesize and explain complex concepts in layman terms is essential.
Ability to create financial models to justify investment in a new product initiative.
Ability to work with offshore resources in different time zones is critical.
Ability to present clearly and concisely to different audiences including at the executive level.
Looking for self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-moving interdisciplinary team.
Problem solver and solutions oriented who embraces team work rather than individual contribution.
Travel international/national up to 20% (once Pandemic travel restrictions are lifted).
Preferred Qualifications (nice to have):
Previous experience in a customer facing role such as Field Applications Scientist or Scientific Sales is preferred and a distinct advantage.
Experience leading Services organizations very desirable.
