WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

Vector Delivery Solutions is the Bain Practice responsible for defining the intellectual property, marketing and commercializing Bain’s approach to Digital Transformations. Vector works closely with the Enterprise Technology and Advanced Analytics Practices, as well as ADAPT and the Advanced Analytics Group to support our clients with all elements of their digital transformations.

WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

The Vector Strategy and Operations Practice Senior Manager is responsible for supporting the Practice Vice President and Global Practice Leader in setting the strategy for the practice, securing the appropriate resources and delivering on the strategic agenda, including tracking progress and reporting out to affiliates and Bain leadership. Part of achieving the strategic agenda, includes engaging the affiliates and ensuring rewarding career opportunities and building new capabilities. The Strategy and Operations Senior Manager will also manage all of the Marketing activity, liaising with Bain’s marketing team, ensuring Bain has a compelling message and collateral in digital transformations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

VECTOR STRATEGY (40%)

  • Work with GPL and VP to develop Vector Strategy (undergoing a major redefinition in 2021 onwards), Run a full assessment of market/competitor landscape and what their approach is in digital transformation, including in-house capabilities and partnering ecosystem

  • Bring both a present-forward and strong future-back views, stretching the ambition of Vector and pushing for a bold mindset and market disruption. Define vision/ambition and where to play / how to win:

    • Define global portfolio of strategic initiatives with the GPL and VP; ensure alignment with evolving global strategic plan and market conditions; drive some of the initiatives
  • Drive development of the ongoing annual strategic plan and budget, pushing thinking, coordinating with ET and AA teams to ensure one comprehensive, and coordinated strategic plan for Bain's approach to digital transformations. Collect and share best practices from other practice areas around content and process

  • Work with industry practices to set client priority list and ensure interlock priorities are achieving intended commercial outcomes

  • Serve as ‘general contractor’ for the practice to pull in resources required to achieve strategy and goals across regions and functions; make resource trade-offs; support VP on practice organization design and career management

  • Drive strategic thinking behind reporting standards; drive adoption across all parts of Vector

  • Manage IP resource requests and secure resources for highest priority projects, working with peer network in PPK (interlocks) and offices; may lead an IP team

  • Drive the vision for the WWP meeting; work with the GPL to craft the right agenda, content and flow to achieve the vision; pull in affiliates to drive engagement

MARKETING AND BRAND BUILDING (25%)

  • Work with global marketing to articulate Vector value proposition and develop external Vector marketing plan; learn from, share and implement best practices across other practices. Continue to push the use of new channels and ways of reaching clients; balance marketing priorities/resources across solutions

  • Innovate Bain.com within global Marketing guidelines, including bringing voice of the customer from your practice to the Marketing team

  • Define and develop internal forums and materials to drive awareness about Vector value proposition and solutions; find new ways to engage promoters; define most critical promoters to engage at the highest level

  • Gather regular feedback from key frontline partners to continuously evolve/improve Vector Value Proposition

AFFILIATE AND EXPERT MANAGEMENT (25%)

  • QC all HLAs for the L1 affiliates; advise GPL on elements to include/adjust and communicate to RPLs

  • Collect feedback on top experts, what works and what does not to inform future utilization; proactively build relationship with recruiters/Vector M&A team to fill gaps

  • Set affiliate engagement plan for Digital Architects and other affiliates (in coordination with Solutions Director); determine critical content to train and facilitate sharing through personal connections with affiliates

  • Work with VP and Solution Director to set retention plan that builds capabilities and keeps engagement high

PRACTICE OPERATIONS (10%)

  • Coordinate with Reporting and Analytics CoE on dashboards and reporting required to track and manage Vector Solutions Delivery strategic agenda

  • Provide one ‘source of truth’ on revenues, expenses, KPIs globally

  • Manage an operations specialist

ABOUT YOU

  • MBA graudate

  • Has at least 3 years of post-MBA consulting work experience as either a current or recent Bainie at the Senior Manager or Associate Partner level or the equivalent level at another consulting company

  • Preferably has digital programs or projects work experience, including technology know-how

  • Is Collaborative – someone who knows how to work with and through others to drive results and make change happen, and is customer service oriented

  • Is Entrepreneurial, proactive, and productive - someone who knows how to prioritize what needs to be done and rallies colleagues to get things accomplished; “roll up the sleeves” type of attitude

  • Is Insightful – strong problem-solving skills and pragmatic, with a practical, “real-world” sense of what is actually “do-able”. Possesses an affinity for data-driven insights to make decisions, and able to harness knowledge and expertise of the best content to support the Practice

  • Is Articulate and Compelling in his/her oral and written communication skills; engaging and concise – with interpersonal “presence”; adaptable across executive, technical and Bain audiences

  • Is Energetic, with drive, enthusiasm, and natural skills in relationship development – ability to develop an extensive network of relevant relationships both internally and externally, as required

  • Has Inspirational Leadership - track record of successfully managing high-performing team members, motivating and developing colleagues above and below their own tenure

  • Is a Great Colleague and Teammate - passionate about the task at hand and fun to be around; someone with whom Bainies and clients go out of their way to work
