How you will make an impact:

Are you passionate about delivering results beyond the usual to help elevate businesses? As a senior member of our communications team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll be part of a divisional marketing group responsible for developing and driving campaigns that highlight our success stories to a global audience. We are not looking for a cookie-cutter PR person, and we don't want standard external communications programs. We want a self-starter who has global experience and can translate complex scientific information from our technical teams into easy-to-understand stories.

This hardworking person will handle day-to-day communications activities across teams focused on the Material Sciences, Life Sciences, Semiconductor, and Spectroscopy businesses. You will help guide, develop, and drive the external communications strategies, working with internal teams and an external agency to generate extraordinary results. You will be expected to drive decision making, interact with corporate teams, and understand the global public relations landscape. We're looking for someone who wants to run everything from communications campaign development to story creation to social media. This person will ensure that our campaigns include bold and measurable metrics that help the business reach its goals.

What you will do:

  • Develop and implement a robust and integrated communications strategy to support marketing goals that highlights how our solutions advance customers' research. This includes working closely with the marketing partners to draft messaging, develop and execute communications plans around key events and announcements, and creating original content for blogs and social media.

  • Track impact of communications and report metrics to MSD's executive leadership team and key stakeholders.

  • Serve as contact for internal partners, providing recommendations and anticipating needs, including capturing information from internal teams and external partners to drive campaigns forward.

  • Contribute to the development and execution of integrated digital/social/broadcast campaigns.

  • Work with public relations agency to guide plan development, identify and drive coverage, and report successes.

  • Research and share industry insights, shifts and opportunities in the landscape.

  • Other duties as assigned.

How you will get here:


  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English or a related field


  • 5+ years of experience in integrated communications or PR, either in-house or at an agency

  • Strong communications background with proven capacity for working with global business and trade press to guide story development.

  • Proven ability to establish positive relationships, both internally and externally

  • Customer service orientation

  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment (frequent tight deadlines, multitasking, etc.) and ability to handle pressure

  • Experience working with colleagues in multiple locations around the world

  • Strong presentation skills along with the ability to read, write and speak English

  • May need to work more than 40 hours per week on occasion

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
