As the Senior Manager, Insights, US NPP, you will be responsible for developing and executing detailed insights plans and projects across various therapeutic areas (TAs), including the management of timelines, budgets and vendor selection and management. Projects may include qualitative and quantitative market research, analysis of primary and secondary data sources, analog analyses and competitive intelligence.
How you will contribute:
The US New Product Planning (NPP) team works to provide a USBU perspective to global teams regarding therapeutic area (TA) strategy, pipeline asset development and business development (BD) opportunities. The Sr. Manager, Insights will be a collaborative member of a cross-functional team, including global stakeholders, that is responsible for deriving customer insights to drive, challenge, and/or validate strategic business decisions.
This role serves as an expert in understanding the customer types (e.g. consumers, patients, healthcare professionals, payers, caregivers, and others) and market dynamics relevant to assigned therapeutic area(s) for pipeline products and/or business development opportunities.
Serves as a consultative partner to the NPP (Sr.) Directors to address key business questions. Recommends courses of action to support executive decision-making in strategic business decisions including pipeline assets and BD opportunities
Designs and implements both qualitative and quantitative market research with US patients, HCPs, payers and other stakeholders, many times in collaboration with global teams
Identifies and manages external vendors with market research capabilities; serves as project lead and ensures research materials and approach address the study objectives; partners closely with vendor on all research phases and is ultimately responsible for delivering quality data and insights
Synthesizes data collected via primary and secondary research into cohesive deliverables that communicate with impact a clear story that addresses the key business questions
Provides excellent project management including proactive communication and timely deliverables within budget
Manage multiple projects through strategic prioritization and manage market research and data budget in accordance with strategic priorities
Identifies opportunities to partner and collaborate with global insights team members on projects involving both primary & secondary data
Adheres to legal, procurement, compliance, and pharmacovigilance requirements for market research; understands market research industry requirements and best practices
Works closely with both US and global forecasting teams to develop and to challenge key forecast assumptions, including price, market access, epidemiology, demand and other market factors
Develops and maintains expertise in past, current and anticipated therapeutic area issues, industry trends, competitor products, and future pipeline products.
Has a working knowledge of key marketing strategy principles including customer segmentation, targeting, and positioning as well as the US market access landcape and value drivers
Closely follows market research innovations and introduces new approaches to project work
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Required
Bachelors Degree OR advanced degree in an analytical or social science field such as marketing analytics, business analytics, statistics, math, economics, industrial engineering, marketing, sociology, psychology, etc.
5+ years of combined market research, strategical or analytical consulting, and/or marketing related experience; 2+ years pharmaceutical market research or marketing related experience; strategic or analytical consulting experience
Understanding of US pharmaceutical environment
Understanding of qualitative and quantitative primary market research methods
Understanding and application of quantitative principles, concepts, practices, and standards surrounding the use and manipulation of secondary market data sources
Ability to diagnose and define business questions and translate into research objectives and study design
Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry, including payer landscape, drug development and commercialization process
Project and vendor management skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to thrive under tight deadlines and work confidently amidst ambiguity and uncertainty.
Ability to build strong positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Domestic travel up to 10% of the time
Desired
Advanced degree in business, marketing, or social science
8+ years of combined market research, strategical or analytical consulting, and/or marketing related experience; 5+ years pharmaceutical market reesrach or marketing related experience; strategic or analytical consulting experience
Wide breadth of business acumen and understanding of finance and marketing methods, patient/professional promotion, sales execution, payer landscape, budget/forecast planning and strategic planning
Experience in working on early and late pipeline assets in addition to on-market assets
Experience in working on BD assessments
