New England Aquarium Corporation Senior Individual Giving Officer in Boston, Massachusetts

The Senior Individual Giving Officer will cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of 125-150, with a focus on identifying, qualifying, and upgrading current NEAq supporters. The Senior Individual Giving Officer will engage new and existing leadership donors who have the capacity and interest in financially supporting NEAq's work to ensure vital and vibrant oceans for generations to come. The Senior Individual Giving Officer will solicit prospects for four-, five- and six-figure gifts will develop long-term relationships with donors; and will represent the New England Aquarium's mission, vision, and impact to constituencies throughout the region. Working collaboratively with the Development team to optimize gift support; the Senior Officer will help to build a pipeline of major gift donors for the Aquarium's growing conservation priorities. SCHEDULE This is a full-time, regular position working Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. Flexibility for a limited amount of remote work may be considered. Occasional travel may be required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Serve as a key member of the NEAq's Development team and participate in all phases of fundraising from individuals, including the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. Develop initiatives to qualify and solicit gift prospects with an emphasis on leadership gift upgrades. Evaluate and recommend appropriate strategies for newly qualified potential donors, including the assessment of a prospect's interests and knowledge of Aquarium programs to recommend the most effective ways to optimize near-term and longer-term philanthropy to NEAq. Work to strengthen the donor pipeline by working with the Director of Individual Giving in creating major gift strategies for selected prospects, and ensuring the successful implementation of fundraising activities and initiatives across the Individual Giving team. This may include arranging donor visits independently and/or in conjunction with frontline fundraisers, senior leaders, board members; reinforcing team goals around unrestricted and restricted gift approaches; serving as the liaison between other teams and departments around shared donors and relationships, etc. Draft donor proposals, stewardship reports, and other communication with high-level philanthropic constituents. Analyze and evaluate prospect and donor data to generate targeted lists and recommend strategic next steps. Utilize the donor database, including filing timely and accurate online contact reports. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Training and Experience Minimum 5+ years of relevant professional experience in a mission-driven, non-profit organization. Frontline fundraising experience required. Understanding of philanthropic giving and experience working with individual donors at the four-, five- and six-figure gift level required. Ability to develop strategies to identify and cultivate prospects and steward, and recognize donors. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated understanding of the philosophy of quality service and group process, with a proven aptitude for working as part of a team. An entrepreneurial spirit and understanding of prospecting/pipeline building. Knowledge of the dynamics of fundraising and the concepts of development in a non-profit. Proven experience building productive and professional relationships with colleagues, clients, donors, prospects, partners, board members, senior staff, and other organizational contacts.
