As companies around the world consider the implications of hybrid working models, Slack is uniquely positioned to lead the way to be their digital HQ. We are looking for a Senior Competitive Intelligence Manager, focused on Solutions Marketing and go-to-market strategy to join our high performance, fast growing Marketing organization.
Passionately curious, customer-obsessed, competitor-obsessed, compelling story teller. If these are the qualities you align with, we would love to talk with you. We are seeking a skilled, curious and highly creative marketer to drive competitive intelligence with a core focus on understanding what makes Slack so unique and differentiated from the competition through a deep technical lens. This role requires technical skills, strong leadership, project management, interpersonal and analytical skills. Relevant experience in the enterprise collaboration market would be an added asset you have.
Slack has a positive, diverse, and supportive culture—we look for people who are curious, inventive, and work to be a little better every single day. In our work together we aim to be smart, humble, hardworking and, above all, collaborative. If all these have caught your attention thus far, let’s look at the details.
The CI Sr. Manager will report into the Product Marketing and Competitive Intelligence Director, and lead all efforts in building CI assets with a core focus on technical marketing. This marketer will build a solid foundational understanding of how Slack differentiates against our key competitors and produce iterative content that helps our sales and sales engineers succeed in the field. Further, the role entails deep collaboration with key internal stakeholders, working cross-functionally with marketing, product, product marketing, solutions marketing, sales, pre-sales, sales enablement and executive leadership.
This candidate should have exceptional communication skills, strike the right balance between technical and marketing content and be able to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple time-sensitive projects.
What you will be doing:
Conduct deep technical research on tier 1 competitors using various methodologies, including competitive labs, customer conversations, internal SME conversations, 3rd party product research and partner organizations
Become the go-to person for product and sales engineering organizations on competitor product teardowns and technical insights, to ultimately influence Slack’s own product roadmap and strategy
Develop a broad understanding of the enterprise collaboration space and be able to identify technology advancements made by competitors
Collaborate with Slack and Salesforce integration teams, build a solid understanding of the joint opportunity that lies ahead, and create differentiation content against the competition
Understand technology trends relevant to our market space to identify opportunities to differentiate and make threat assessments with respect to competitive positioning
Collaborate with sales operations in gathering and analyzing competitive data during various stages of the sales cycle
Build key competitive assets and collateral that simplify technical and product details, so as to be easily consumed and appreciated by non-technical audiences
Collaborate closely with pre-sales/solution consultants/sales engineers to breakdown competitor demos and technical documentation to build a SWOT analysis
Lead sales enablement for all field-facing teams within Slack and engage directly with customers and prospects for deal support
What you should have:
5+ years of technology experience in Enterprise SaaS companies, technology consulting companies or system integrators/ISVs in a product management, solutions consultant, business analyst or pre-sales role
1+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, product marketing, or solutions marketing role
Engineering, Computer Science degree or similar experience is a bonus, but relevant experience can be looked at as a substantive alternative
Outstanding ability to lead cross-functional teams under tight deadlines
Experience engaging directly with enterprise customers
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Excellent analytical skills
Indirect experience working closely with engineering, product management or solutions consultants in a business analyst role would also be considered a strong candidate
Experience in enterprise collaboration space is an added advantage
