GlaxoSmithKline Retail Account Mgr, Vaccines- Northeast in Boston, Massachusetts

The GSK vaccines business is one of the largest in the world, providing more than 30 pediatric, adolescent, adult, and travel vaccines worldwide. In the US, vaccination rates remain low among adults for vaccine-preventable diseases. The Retail Key Account Team’s customer ambition is to be a trusted partner focused on increasing immunization rates and protecting against vaccine-preventable diseases.

The Retail Key Account Manager (RKAM) represents GSK products and services through F2F selling with non-prescribing population health leaders. The RKAM is responsible for achieving sales goals within their territory by utilizing high level account management skills when engaging with retail leadership to pull through strategic initiatives to increase utilization of adult immunizations. Retail customers are assigned based on market segmentation, geography, and VBU business needs.

The Retail Key Account Manager reports to the Retail Sales Manager, within the Vaccine Business Unit.


  • The RKAM will develop and maintain specialized expertise in vaccine therapeutic areas, products and markets with a focus on pulling through GSK committed contract

  • Demonstrate knowledge of GSK vaccines, competitive products, GSK promotional strategies and objectives in a way that meets customer needs

  • Demonstrate high-level selling and marketing skills, including account-based selling, strategic thinking, drive for results, and the ability to ask for the business

  • Demonstrate the ability to achieve good selling outcomes through proper blending of science & service based upon each customer’s needs

  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively implement and pull-through GSK committed contracts at targeted retail accounts


  • Meets assigned company expectations for role & objectives.

  • Completes strategic retail customer account plans that meet company standards.

  • Execution of account plan that demonstrates your ability to achieve sales performance goals for territory supporting VBU business needs

  • Develop & maintain customer relationships with key decision influencers that meet company standards.

  • Work with internal stakeholders to coordinate programs and strategies within overlapping accounts

  • Completes required training and development objectives within the assigned time frame.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Sciences, Marketing, or Business required.

  • Job requires up to 55% travel, candidate need to reside near a major airport

  • Vaccines Account Manager Experience (minimum of 3 years)

  • Must possess a combined minimum of 5 years the following: Vaccines or Retail Sales, Contracting, Payer, Marketing or Equivalent industry experience

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Previous experience as a public or health system account manager

  • Strong record of high performance and consistent results

  • Strong knowledge of large account selling

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation and influencing skills

  • Live in the Northeast States (MA, NY, PA, CT, ME, NH, RI, VT) in the US.
