IHS Markit is seeking to appoint a high-caliber research lead to join company's fast-growing Climate & Sustainability Group, with a focus on power and renewables. This position offers a significant opportunity and leadership to the successful candidate in a highly respected company during an exciting period of growth. As a key research leader in our global power and renewables practice, this Research Director will play a critical role setting our research agenda and being the voice for our global messaging.
Acting as a key global thought leader for our power and renewables practice and generating strategic insights that are ahead of the curve – along with other research leads in the Climate & Sustainability Group.
Liaising and collaborating with our regional power and renewable research leads in key markets around the world - Americas, Asia, Europe – and forming consistent messaging.
Highly analytical and data sensitive, with the ability to extract high-level insights from various data and modeling activities by the larger team.
Effectively delivering insights through different media formats – from traditional written reports and PowerPoints to new, more creative platforms such as blogs, videos, podcast, infographics, and social media – to help clients understand policies, anticipate critical trends, examine the competitive landscape, and identify opportunities.
Ensuring that key deliverables such as data dashboards and long-term outlooks are aligned globally and consistently.
Providing guidance and review for reports written by various colleagues.
Addressing client inquires on our deliverables, and/or triaging questions appropriately and sending to the right teams and experts.
Working closely with commercial, sales, and marketing colleagues to generate business opportunities.
Engaging in applied research and consulting projects in customized studies for clients when needed.
Manage a small team (up to 2 colleagues).
Bachelor’s degree relevant areas, e.g., economics, business, engineering.
Preference given to advanced degree holders.
12-15 years power and renewables industry experience gained through employment with a research institution, consultancy, power utility/generator, equipment and service provider, financial investor, and/or government entity;
Exceptionally strong writer and communicator, with the ability to produce succinct reports and effectively presenting insights to a culturally-diverse energy audience from around the world;
Ability to function efficiently in a matrix organization and establish informal internal relationships;
Experience in people management;
Interest in new technologies and delivery platforms, including different ways in which contents can be disseminated effectively;
Cultural awareness and experience operating in different countries and markets a plus.
