Skyword is looking for a PR/ Freelancer Manager, or as we call it internally, a Community Manager to identify awesome freelance writers and creatives, match them to exciting brands looking to tell compelling stories, and nurture and develop the contributors? skills throughout their engagement with Skyword. We?re looking for someone who can ensure a rewarding and positive experience for contributors, and help make Skyword the destination of choice for freelance writers and creatives who want to team up with the world?s best brands to tell great stories.
The ideal candidate is more than just a recruiter. Our Community Managers are brand stewards, serving as the public face and primary point of contact for the majority of the writers and creatives in our talent pool. They manage social media accounts, write regular community newsletters, respond to support requests, and collect feedback from contributors so that Skyword can continuously improve. We are a small, agile team within a small, fast-growing company. We?re looking for someone who?s going to approach their work with passion, question the status quo, and help us continue to grow globally.
If you?ve worked in global creator outreach, creative recruitment, or the management of bloggers, journalists, professional authors, subject matter experts, photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and other creative communities, this position is for you. The qualified applicant is an energetic self-starter and creative problem solver who isn?t afraid to push boundaries and think outside the box.
This role is located in downtown Boston. Local candidates will be given hiring preference, relocation assistance is not available.
Define, manage, and maintain the total community member experience for Skyword contributors, including all communication plans, from initial identification and outreach to engagement and development
Act as an advocate for the Skyword community of writers and creatives
Assess prospective contributor profiles for quality of work and relevance to client need
Manage, update, and improve community management team process and best practices
Maintain FAQs and training tools for use by the contributor community and internal partners
Communicate directly with writers and creatives through event planning, person-to-person conversations, social media channels, regular newsletters, and NPS surveys to build strong relationships, enable continuous improvement, and reveal opportunities for growth within the community
Network with potential and existing contributors around the world through social media, forums, and in-person events
Continue to build Skyword?s diverse network of influential contributors
Educate contributors about the benefits of Skyword?s publishing platform and array of opportunities
Execute marketing efforts such as newsletters, events, webinars, social media management, and other engagement efforts to help grow Skyword?s community and ensure a consistent, positive, and rewarding experience
Simultaneously manage numerous recruitment and marketing projects with tight deadlines
Provide roll-up reporting to senior staff
Experience and Skills:
BA/BS Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or other relevant field
Five or more years in a similar or relevant role
Experience developing and managing outreach and community management best practices
Experience making and nurturing relationships within creative communities
Basic familiarity with Adobe Spark, html, Buffer, Tweetdeck, Chamaileon, and Mailchimp
Experience leveraging social media in a professional setting
Exceptional written and oral communication skills - multilingual fluency preferred
Strong organizational and time management skills
