Boston Properties Property Management Intern in Boston, Massachusetts

Primary Purpose of Position:

Assist in property management activities for assets within the Boston Region portfolio.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop familiarity with BXP’s Boston region assets.

  • Provide backup coverage within the various property management offices as needed.

  • Assist with tenant events, visitor check-in, and special events tracking logs.

  • Expand client dossier by researching our office clients’ businesses and their clients; identify opportunities to promote within the BXP client network.

  • Research parking valet applications to enhance our valet operations and customer experience; present a recommendation to BXP parking management team.

  • Create, develop and implement a curb appeal program to include the following:

  • Tour Urban Edge properties and identify common areas to be reviewed and assessed.

  • Develop a score card to evaluate each team’s performance in managing the client experience.

  • Set up and attend property tours with the team; mange the score card and evaluation process.

  • Identify areas of improvement; discuss overall curb appeal assessment with team.

  • Develop and distribute a best practice plan to share with the teams.

  • Conduct site inspections, create work orders regarding corrective measures.

  • Support the Property Management Department on special projects.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a BA/BS degree program required.

  • Completion of college education through junior year preferred.

  • One year of prior summer work experience preferred.

  • Basic computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft office preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

  • Ability to confidently interact with co-workers, contractors, tenants or vendors in an articulate, courteous and business-like manner at all times.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.

  • Effective problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong organization and multi-task management skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Involves work of a general office nature usually performed sitting such as operation of a computer.

  • Involves work of a general office nature usually performed standing such as operation of a fax and printer.

  • Involves movement between departments to facilitate workflow.

Internal and External Contacts:

  • Internal contact with all departments in Boston regional office, property management staff in other regional offices, and various departments in the Corporate office.

  • External contact with property management professionals and tenants.

Reporting Structure:

  • This position reports to the SVP, Property Management, who provides supervision and guidance, and evaluates performance on a periodic basis.
