Job Description

Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.

As a member of the product development division, you will specify, design and implement major changes to existing software architecture. Define project needs. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to ensure consistency, testability and portability across products in general.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

Solutions Architect - OCI Data Management Services (DMS)

The OCI DMS team seeking an experienced solutions architect for mission critical, managed open-source offerings within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. As a member of the Data Management Services organization and serving as the solutions architect, you will be focused on working with customers, architecting, migrating, designing, prototyping cross product solutions involving Oracle’s managed open-source solutions and other Oracle/OCI product offerings.

The ideal candidate for Solutions Architect role will have a deep understanding of the industry’s open-source cloud offerings, market trends, and emerging technologies. In this role, you will be working with leadership across DMS, as well as directly with OCI sales leadership, service teams, and customers to prototype, promote and implement customized solutions for a wide range of internal and external customers. This role drives Oracle Cloud customer consumption by accelerating the adoption of Oracle cloud services including discovery, design and deployment from beta programs throughout the entire customer lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize processes to onboard high priority customers at the solution/product level and supports the customer from beta program implementation through Proof of Concept (POC) and production deployments via resource configuration, planning, and customer education/training.

  • Assist customers in migrating workloads to OCI either from on-premises or from competitive clouds to OCI. May implement solutions and ensure successful deployments through code development and scripting.

  • Display product/application understanding through highly customized demonstrations that attract customers to our beta programs and GA products. Potentially showcase these solutions at conferences and events.

  • Understand how key competitors require customers to implement their solutions, and create best practices for migrating key workloads to OCI.

  • Act as a focal point for obtaining key performance and benchmarking data, and communicating that to customers, prospects and internal stakeholders.

  • Works directly with customers to gather requirements, develop architectures and translates business needs into solutions.

  • Identifies product/service gaps and enhancements to influence engineering roadmaps for customer driven features.

  • Closely collaborate with sales to prototype and promote customized solutions for a wide range of high-profile Oracle/OCI customers.

  • Deep understanding of open source and 3rd party products and solutions; deep understanding of OCI services.

  • Willing to coach and train peers on how to implement new DMS Managed services on OCI, and how to migrate customers to them.

  • Establish strong relationships with customers and internally within the Data Management Services team, and with other groups across OCI.

  • Creates and distributes technical assets (white papers, solution code, blog posts, and video demonstrations).

  • Maintains expertise by staying current on emerging technologies, and especially the open source ecosystem surrounding the new DMS service.

  • Acts as an acknowledged authority for customers and sales on technical cloud solutions and customer success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 11+ years of experience and a degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Extensive experience working with PaaS and IaaS related technologies

  • Experience working with enterprise-size IT firms

  • Regularly designs, develops, and prototypes solutions for customers

  • Familiarity with several of the following technologies: Infrastructure-as-a-Service (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud), Platform-as-a-Service, databases, and open-source technologies such as Elasticsearch, Redis, Cassandra, Postgres, etc.…

  • SOAP and REST web services

  • Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfort with complex, rapidly evolving software development environments.

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.

  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams.

  • Commitment to capturing and maintaining institutional knowledge.

  • Significant work experience in startups or fast-paced enterprise technology development

  • environments.
