Product Management Director Senior Anthem is investing in innovation and looking for seasoned product leaders with an entrepreneurial mindset, who challenge the status quo and create high-value products, informed by an out-side-in client and consumer perspective. This Product Management Director Sr. position will focus on solutions for Large Group and National Accounts clients.

Applicants should have experience in owning a product roadmap and managing a disciplined strategic process for developing ideas and taking them to market. Applicants should have experience in presenting to high-level leaders and obtaining funding for new and unique products, by developing a compelling business case and value proposition.

The Product Management Director, Sr. is responsible for leading ideation, market research, and competitive assessments and translating ideas into business requirements and implementation plans.

Your key attributes: • Strong ability to employ a hypothesis-driven approach to tackling complex problems • Track record of driving high-impact results • Strategic mindset and a demonstrated ability to see and act within the bigger picture • Ability to effectively communicate with leadership teams and present options and their inherent tradeoffs so decisions can be made quickly and effectively • Skillful at building consensus and making thoughtful, data-driven recommendations for project / program prioritization, solution design, issue management, risk identification, and mitigation • Excellent business judgment and a practical, common-sense approach to getting things done • Masterful at cross-functional communication to ensure all stakeholders have everything needed to collaborate effectively • Proven “radar” for identifying when a struggling project needs additional guidance or knowledge from other experts within Anthem • Strong experience implementing solutions that deliver on the intended value proposition, and managing customer expectations when a solution will not deliver the results envisioned

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
• Determines customer needs and preferences through research and analysis of industry technology, current processes, and other methods. • Champions the vision and guides the product strategy and roadmap. • Sets development priorities and secures stakeholder alignment along the way. • Leads multi-disciplinary teams through the ideation and design process • Creates and presents business case and “pitch presentation” to secure product funding. • Oversees the implementation of new products or product changes/enhancements. • Ensures collaborative workflow and checks and balances are maintained at each stage of development by following Anthem’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) approach. • Mentors, coaches, and counsels team members with dotted-lined accountability to you. • Reviews, analyzes and makes recommendations on rate actions for existing products. • Monitors product performance and the competitive environment by product, market segment and sub-region. Ensures products meet competitive and legislative needs. • Supports the development of short and long-term strategic product promotions in support of market, sales and profitability objectives.


Requires a BA/BS degree; 7-10 years of product management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Demonstrated results in three or more of the following areas required: Product Development, Market Strategy, Market Research or Risk Management. MBA preferred.
