VMware Product Line Manager, Commerce, VMware Marketplace - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Boston, Massachusetts

  • You are excited about commerce and how software is priced, delivered and sold in different models through different Routes to Market at a global level

  • You want to address both buyer and seller needs through developing a pricing strategy that allows consumption of the software using different subscription models.

  • You understand sales motions and how a transaction gets booked, taxed, invoiced and is subsequently recognized as revenue and other aspects of order management.

  • You are keen to understand the industry and regulatory standards that govern commerce transaction in different geographies.

  • You have expertise in SKU setups, master data management and lifecycle processes that govern commerce transactions.

  • You have exposure to legal agreements, sourcing functions that enable different entities to do business with each other.

  • You have designed systems that are compliant and meet regulatory standards like GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, etc.

  • A strong collaborator who actively fosters safe and inclusive teams. You enjoy mentoring others as much as you like learning from them.

  • You work well with others to jointly define and drive product strategy, vision and roadmap while evangelizing to internal stakeholders, partners and users of our product.

  • You are well versed in methods to discover customer problems and create valuable, desirable and feasible solutions.

  • You enjoy writing user stories and helping the dev team prioritize the backlog in order to continuously deliver measurable value towards the vision with your team.

  • You are excited to innovate and iterate on agile PM processes.

The following are attributes we see in successful candidates, but they are not “requirements.” You are strongly encouraged to apply even if you don’t tick all the boxes because we want to hear from you and learn about what you can bring to the role:

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience in the areas of commerce, subscriptions, billings for enterprise software sales and delivery.

  • Solid functional knowledge of commerce concepts of SaaS offerings including Subscription Life Cycle Management and Monthly Billing.

  • Prior exposure to ERP constructs such as Order Management, Installed Base, Account Receivable, Account Payable, General Ledger, etc. desirable.

  • Deep knowledge of commerce lifecycle processes like Quote to Cash, Lead to Order and Issue to Resolution .

  • Working knowledge of Software Pricing and Packaging, SKU Setups, Master Data Management, Product Promotions and Incentives strategy to drive growth and customer adoption.

  • Exposure to Go-To-Market concepts, Direct vs Channel sales, customer and partner segmentation, etc.

  • Knowledge of RDBMS concepts and querying skills (exposure to MYSQL preferred but not a must).

  • Understanding of how modern day SaaS applications are developed and familiarity/ working knowledge of API and API management.

  • Exposure to Partner Relationship Management platforms like SFDC is desirable.

  • Hands on experience in writing detailed Product Requirements using a persona driven approach and translating it into User Stories, UI mockups, etc.

  • Past experience of having supported SaaS applications in a follow the sun model at a global scale.

  • Ability to break down complex customer business needs into simple solutions.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to teach others.

  • Ability to collaborate well with engineers, designers, and other partners.

  • Experience with Lean and User-Centered Design methodologies.

  • Experience with agile development methodologies.

  • Experience with Change Management processes and functions

  • Interested in working in diverse and highly collaborative environments.
