Job Description
The Portfolio Strategy Lead (Director) is a core member of the R&D Global Portfolio Strategy team. The Portfolio Strategy Lead will support portfolio decision-making and R&D strategic initiatives working in collaboration with stakeholders across R&D Therapeutic Area Units, Functions, Research, Corporate Strategy, and Commercial. This role contributes substantially to shaping the future strategy and direction of Takeda R&D.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Business partner across R&D: Therapeutic Areas (TAUs), Functions, and Research. Partner with the Commercial Organizations and Corporate Strategy in support of our initiatives.
Build, maintain, and leverage an expertise in pipeline assets to support key internal initiatives.
Support the continued improvement and embedding of cross-TAU portfolio management and prioritization processes for pipeline assets which include scenario planning, risk / value analyses and trade-off decision frameworks.
Provide strategic leadership and expertise with respect to portfolio analytics and decision-making including structuring of analytics and interpretation of insights that facilitates trade-off discussions and buy-up decisions for new projects.
Support R&D strategic initiatives, including Executive-level R&D strategic portfolio reviews, the development and tracking of R&D Key Performance Indicators, and the PTRS estimation and approval process.
Monitor portfolio progress and related milestones, identifying gaps and making strategic recommendations.
Support strategic initiatives that enable R&D to improve productivity and execute on the vision of being an agile, patient-centric organization.

Healthcare business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry
Experience leading and working with cross-functional teams.

Previous experience influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
Proven track record of leading and driving business process transformation and organizational culture change as well as delivering on programs with complex business deliverables.
Excellent communicator, able to persuasively convey both ideas and data, verbally and in writing
Demonstrates leadership presence and confidence with the ability to inspire, motivate and drive results
Decision-making and Autonomy
Ability to seek diverse input from multiple constituents and stakeholders to drive innovative solutions
Ability to incorporate feedback and ensure decisions are made swiftly to yield flawless execution

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
MBA or PhD highly preferred
Minimum 10 years industry experience in an R&D or Portfolio function and a deep understanding of the drug discovery and development process.
Management / strategy consulting experience a plus.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$169,400.00 - $266,200.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
