State of Massachusetts Outreach and Communications Intern in Boston, Massachusetts
The Massachusetts Office on Disability (MOD)works to ensure that people with disabilities can equally participate in all aspects of life in Massachusetts. MOD serves as a resource to state agencies, municipalities, and members of the general public by providing information, guidance and training on matters concerning disability-related civil rights, equal access, and opportunity. The Value of a MOD Internship MOD’s Volunteer Internship Program creates a “win-win” experience by providing experiential learning for interns while allowing the agency to cultivate a professional, diverse pool of applicants for employment opportunities in the disability rights field. Interns will receive invaluable real-world experience, intellectual challenges, problem solving skills and contacts in their field of interest. Interns are considered an integral part of MOD. Start Date:June 5, 2023 End Date:August 31, 2023 Time Commitment: * 20 hours/week *Pay: $18 / hour Project Description The Outreach and Communications Intern will support MOD’s efforts to engage municipal ADA Coordinators and other key stakeholders across the state through development of a new networking group and MOD trainings, events, and social media channels. This internship is an ideal opportunity for an undergraduate student studying communications. It can be completed either virtually or as a hybrid. The schedule for this internship, including timeframe and hours worked,is flexible. Candidates should discuss their availability with the internship supervisor to determine a mutually agreeable schedule. Project Deliverables In collaboration with and under the direction of the Communications and Training Manager, the Intern will complete the following: * Develop an engaging and informative resource group for municipal ADA Coordinators * Develop and publish a social media campaign with answers to frequently asked questions to MOD * Provide administrative support for MOD trainings and events Knowledge and Skills Needed * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Willingness to learn and take initiative * Ability to communicate concisely, accurately, and clearly orally and in writing * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Knowledge or experience with digital communications and/or community engagement preferred * Familiarity and experience with disability rights issues and the disability community is a plus * Experience with Constant Contact is a plus First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.
