This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a National Toll Practice Consultant to provide strategic direction and overall leadership in achieving budgeted business development outcomes, building and fostering strong client and stakeholder relationships with an overall focus on growth and expanding our market leadership.
The National Toll Practice Consultant will possess a balanced commercial, strategic and business development mindset and the ability to drive an integrated strategy that combines advisory, planning, design engineering, program management and construction management professional services. We seek to be an industry leader and trusted advisor, -- driving business growth with a commitment to client and commercial success. These will be important objectives for this position.
The position will report to the WSP National Director of Tolling Services and can sit out of any mutually agreed WSP USA office.
Your Impact
A key part of this role is for the National Toll Practice Consultant will collaborate with the firms’ Western regional and local leadership to implement client engagement and business development strategies that are focused on growing our presence and ability to deliver strategic and technical solutions for our tolling and related clients.
The National Toll Practice Consultant will also engage with our technical experts to develop the full suite of relevant client services. A limited number of tolling specialists may directly report to the National Toll Practice Leader. Most services will be provided by technical resources that reside throughout WSP’s Transportation and Advisory businesses and are readily available in a collaborative matrix model.
Business Development
Represent the firm in the market through involvement in client and industry events and associations to promote intelligence gathering and pipeline development
Manage promotional and proposal material development
Develop new business leads
Develop strategic alliances and project partners to secure new work
Lead strategic project pursuits
Participate in negotiations to secure contract awards
Strategic Leadership
Anticipate medium and long-term client needs and industry dynamics
Comfort with changing market conditions
Crafts program delivery strategies with owners and policy makers, and implementation plans to achieve desired outcomes
Confident and creative problem solver willing to propose innovative ideas
Partner who solicits, assesses and adopts creative ideas from other participants
Business Performance
Act as a key contributor and business advisor to the Western Regional Team
Lead the delivery on tolling aspect of projects across the Western Region and the US

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
The position requires BA/BS degree in Engineering, Planning, Architecture, Business, or equivalent technical discipline, proven track record of successfully growing a program, team or initiative in tolling
Minimum 12 years of transportation consulting/engineering experience, including at least five years of successful experience in delivery of tolling technical work
Specific regional expertise in Transportation and established relationships with local teaming partners and key client decision makers Demonstrated experience in leading and winning large strategic pursuits.
Excellent communication skills (presenting and writing)
Organized, self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
