Museum of Science National Philanthropy Officer in Boston, Massachusetts

The National Philanthropy Officer drives non-New England based corporate, foundation and individual philanthropic support for the Museum's growing slate of in-school offerings, including EiE, the Museum's award-winning curriculum. The Officer is personally responsible for $2M per year of philanthropic investments into synchronous, asynchronous, and curricular initiatives, programs, and products. The Officer will work collaboratively with stakeholders from across the MOS in School team and Museum to create compelling funding proposals, and to creatively match funding opportunities with prospects and existing funders. This position can be based in Boston or fully remote. RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee non-New England philanthropy for EiE and other MOS in School programs annually. Personally responsible for $2M per year. Dedicate 75% of job to donor cultivation, engagement and solicitation. Complete 100 donor visits and 25 solicitations at minimum per year. WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, 40 hrs/ week REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors of Arts or Science degree. Three or more years of advancement, business development, or sales experience, with demonstrated proficiency in prospecting and portfolio development Proven track record of securing investments (6-figure plus) in philanthropy, sales, and/or other business development activity Demonstrated understanding of best practices in philanthropy, sales, or business development. Demonstrated experience with new prospect engagement and pipeline development. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated communication skills - both written and verbal. Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with both external donors and internal colleagues.
