Suffolk Construction National Director, Access Solutions and Scaffolding in Boston, Massachusetts

FUSE is looking for a National Director to lead our Scaffolding and Access Solutions business throughout key US markets and serve as a strategic partner to our General Manager, Regional Presidents and operational leaders. The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced and dynamic leader in scaffolding and access solutions with proven experience in growing and maintaining successful client construction relationships. The ideal candidate must possess exceptional client relationship and management skills and demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature business judgment. FUSE is looking for a self-starter, who can set strategy and achieve results. This position requires a strong and successful track record in the scaffolding and access solutions business.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute on the division’s national five-year growth strategy

  • Oversee all functions of the division, inclusive of; business development, estimating, pre-construction, engineering, fabrication, BIM, purchasing, project management and field operations.

  • Oversight of design, engineering and execution of public protection, scaffolding and jobsite access solutions

  • Oversight of ordering, receiving, warehousing, and delivering of construction materials and assemblies

  • Oversight of coordination and scheduling of mobile cranes, trucking, logistics and other hoisting requirements needed to complete all scopes of work

  • Responsible for the division’s monthly forecasts, fiscal year planning, P&L and WIP.

  • Direct oversight of optimal equipment utilization and inventory management.

  • Responsible for the division’s resource planning with regards to staffing, facilities, tools, equipment, etc.

  • Communicate effectively with the field staff/construction managers/clients/sub-contractors.

  • Design and enforce the company’s standard operating procedures.

Strategic Growth and Business Development:

  • Utilize existing relationships within the market to develop strategies to position FUSE for scaffolding and Access Solution opportunities nationally

  • Work with regional leadership team to set the business direction and strategy for the division in key markets

  • Oversee execution of the division’s goals as outlined in the group’s business plan;

  • Serve as market expert for Scaffolding and Access Solutions; share market knowledge with national and regional leaders

  • Identify and cultivate new client relationships; develop relationship with, and have the pulse of, existing clients

  • Recommend contract terms to the General Manager and Regional Managers

  • Actively participate in industry events and associations

    Financial Management:

  • Review and analyze weekly project financial reports; provide guidance and insight to national and regional leadership in P&L Management

  • Ensure appropriate financial projections for each project and implement strategies to achieve goals

  • NOI forecasting and maintenance projections

  • Revenue and income commitments

  • Risk management

  • Cash flow

  • Contracts to prescribed limits

  • Coordination of legal matters

Development of People:

  • Seek out and recruit key staff

  • Evaluate team performance and provide direction

  • Build future leaders through mentoring

  • Support training and curriculum development and planning

  • Create sector organizational structure and staffing

  • Career pathing and people development

  • Retention and Engagement

Operations:

  • Ensure sector projects are set up for success, consistent with the P&L and as outlined in the division’s business plan

  • Ensure all construction activities are consistent with Standard Operating Procedures

  • Conduct weekly meetings with regional operations to review job performance in its entirety

  • Review monthly KPIs, evaluate trends and drive improvement

  • Ensure performance corrections are implemented to achieve client satisfaction

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety standards

  • Manage permitting process for active and upcoming projects

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 20 years’ experience working in construction management with an expertise in scaffolding and access solutions

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering is preferred.
