Boston Local is a new hyper-local daily newsletter delivering the most engaging and culturally-relevant stories to Bostonians. The publication will focus on providing the community with the most essential daily information while curating and elevating the most interesting and timely voices in Boston. The Boston Local brand includes a daily newsletter, social channels, and live events.
Boston Local is hiring a Multimedia Platform Producer who can produce, curate, and elevate the discussion around some of the most engaging and culturally-relevant daily content in Boston. The ideal candidate is a true hybrid: A content producer who possesses the creativity and technical skills of a seasoned creator, while also displaying the entrepreneurial mindset of an audience specialist and social media strategist. The ideal candidate has a vision for how to inform, excite, and delight Bostonians through the voices and perspectives essential to the area’s fabric.
The producer will have a knack for seeking out the most buzzworthy topics in the community and be able to find and collaborate with local personalities to bring these stories to life. The producer will also moderate audience conversations, encouraging productive, respectful, and enlightening discussions, highlighting big ideas and active threads while monitoring trolls or spam. In doing so, the candidate will be responsible for growing social following and engagement.
The Multimedia Platform Producer will work closely with Boston Local’s Lead Writer, using social platforms and emerging content formats as an extension of the daily newsletter product. The position will also assist Boston Local’s Lead Writer in sourcing stories and relay tips and feedback from the community.
Act as Boston Local’s community manager across all platforms, including email (MailChimp and shared inboxes) and social accounts ( Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok). Daily responsibilities include:
Publishing original content and updates based on the Boston Local mission and editorial calendar.
Identifying and resharing relevant local happenings.
Facilitating meaningful dialogue among followers and capturing user-generated content for use across platforms.
Soliciting and responding to inbound feedback.
Onboarding and managing contributor content, including text, photo, and video.
Publishing sponsored content paid for by advertisers as needed.
Support the publication’s Lead Writer with executing the editorial calendar, leading our approach on social media and user generated content.
Foster key relationships on behalf of Boston Local, including: account support, and content contributors, as well as collaborations with influencers, top social accounts, and businesses around Boston.
Report monthly on account growth and engagement, ultimately setting best practice guidelines.
At least 3-5 years of experience in an social audience or community role
Experience in community building and moderation, as well as sourcing user-generated content
Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Occasional night-time or weekend work may be required.
A willingness to adapt, hyper-focused on audience wants and needs, and a passion for storytelling in a variety of evolving formats.
Strong content judgment
