MassMutual MMSD Marketing Strategy Program Lead in Boston, Massachusetts

The Opportunity

As a marketing program lead within the MassMutual Strategic Distributors (MMSD) Marketing Strategy team, you will be responsible for developing and executing marketing programs supporting MassMutual’s life insurance, disability income insurance, hybrid long-term care and annuity businesses. These products are sold through unaffiliated third-party advisors and brokers. MassMutual has a solid base of third-party distribution relationships and is making aggressive, intentional investments to expand their advisor base and be a key player in this market.

More specifically, you will, in partnership with MMSD Channel Marketing leads, Marketing centers-of-excellence (COE), product subject matter experts (SME) and MMSD distribution teams, deliver cross-MMSD marketing programs that reach third-party target audiences and generate results in support of the channel’s business goals and growth targets.

Using your deep understanding of third-party distribution and the intermediated sales model, you will share this knowledge with COE partners while creating and overseeing the implementation of marketing programs supporting all product lines within MMSD.

The Team

The MMSD Marketing Strategy team is recently formed and resides within the MassMutual Marketing & Brand organization. The goal of the team is to develop strategic marketing plans that support and deliver upon the business goals of MMSD Distribution. MMSD Distribution is comprised of two lines of business; Life Insurance & Disability Income Insurance and Hybrid Life Insurance-Long Term Care & Annuity. This position is the marketing program lead responsible for developing and delivering marketing programs and campaigns that span both lines of business.

The Impact:

  • Develop and execute cross-MMSD marketing programs that are part of the MMSD channel strategic marketing plan; this includes thought leadership, practice management programs, firm launch campaigns, conference/event campaigns, producer loyalty programs, webinar series and product launches

  • Drive the evolution of the MMSD value proposition to a more differentiated and ownable position in the third-party distribution marketplace

  • Lead the development and delivery of always-on advertising and digital communications that support the MMSD value proposition, drive client engagement and, ultimately, contribute to attaining the MMSD business goals

  • Collaborate with MMSD channel marketing leads for Life & Disability Income Insurance and Hybrid Life-LTC & Annuity to prioritize cross-MMSD programs, campaigns, and deliverables

  • Partner with the MMSD channel marketing leads to find synergies and achieve efficiencies across both businesses

  • Participate in the development of program goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the success of marketing programs

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

  • Knowledge of life insurance, disability income insurance, long-term care and annuity products, including sales concepts, competitive landscape, customer challenges and industry/regulatory trends

  • Demonstrated experience working with and leading cross-functional teams and leveraging COE partners to deliver marketing programs that drive results

  • Collaborative individual who can effectively interact and engage partners within a matrixed team structure

  • Proven success managing multiple priorities using strong project management skills, attention to detail, leadership, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex data and insights in order to provide clear direction for marketing briefs and strategic planning

  • Demonstrated ability to impact and influence peers

  • Outstanding verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

Ideal Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services marketing and/or strategy

  • Solid understanding of the B2B2C intermediated sales process, ideally through unaffiliated insurance-based advisors, securities-based advisors, independent broker dealers, and RIAs
