Job Role and Responsibility:

Are you passionate about solving problems that impact marketing and business operations? Would you like to lead the Marketing Planning process in a large organization with complex programs? Does operational excellence, best practice sharing, and continuous learning excite you?

VMware is seeking a business partner who can leverage their understanding of efficiency and scalability to drive operational excellence and culture change for the Global Marketing organization. The Global Marketing Planning Lead will be responsible for coordinating the annual marketing planning process and aligning the plan with budget allocations and cascading campaign plans.

VMware is looking for a talented leader and team player to fill a highly visible role in our Global Marketing Operations organization. As a candidate for this role, you will have a proven track record of leading Marketing planning processes in companies with Subscription and SaaS business models. You are strong at building relationships with stakeholders and driving best practices across multiple functions and regions. You must be very strong at working cross functionally at all levels of the organization and have a track record of constructively disturbing the Status Quo.

The successful candidate will be a ‘Strategic Advisor’ that fosters teamwork and trust to influence cross functional teams in defining and evolving our Marketing planning processes and programs through data.

What will you do:

  • Collaborate with marketing leaders to achieve alignment with the corporate strategy

  • Orchestrate the annual marketing planning process (e.g. milestones, participants, actions, templates, calendar), ensuring marketing’s goals are aligned and that each function’s contribution to the plan is coordinated to help achieve business objectives

  • Drive alignment and best practices application across regions and shared functions to implement the Planning process globally

  • Balance process and plan with operations to ensure that they can be effectively implemented

  • Provide thought leadership, perform business analysis, and support the execution of high-impact strategic planning projects and mission-critical initiatives as part of the marketing leadership team

  • Evaluate effectiveness of marketing programs and determine what programs should start, stop, or continue

What will you bring:

  • 7 to 10 years of marketing experience, ideally in a marketing planning or consulting role

  • Experience with data-driven integrated marketing planning processes and budget allocation

  • Strong business acumen, exceptional strategic thinking skills balanced with operational execution capabilities

  • Understanding of sales cycles, customer journey, product lifecycles and their respective pressures on the marketing organization to drive demand and revenue

  • Experience setting and executing against financial strategies, and ability to understand financial planning

  • Creative with strong problem-solving skills, analytical and process mindset, and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced results-oriented environment

  • High performer with track record of exceeding performance expectations and metrics

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills with an extraordinary ability to corral and work collaboratively across various groups

  • An appetite for and aptitude to leverage data in the decision-making and planning processes

  • Ability to translate business objectives into marketing goals and measurements

  • Precision and attention to detail

  • Strong program & organization management skills with the ability to optimally structure and prioritize work

  • Experience interacting with and presenting to C-level executive

  • Highly accountable, strategic thinker, self-starter, and proven great teammate in a fast-paced and achievement-oriented environment.
