Boston Public Schools Manager of Industry Partnerships and Volunteerism (SY21-22) in Boston, Massachusetts

Reports To: Director of Partnerships OVERVIEW: Founded in 1647, Boston Public Schools (BPS) is the oldest public school district in the country. With approximately 57,000 students from over 114 different countries, nearly 9,000 employees (including 4,800 teachers) and an annual budget of $832 million, BPS is the largest school district in Massachusetts with a diverse portfolio of schools. The Office of Expanded Learning, Partnerships and Advancement designs and implements a range of initiatives in collaboration with partners across Boston to provide learning opportunities for students, educators and community members. The Office Expanded Learning, Partnerships and Advancement works to build a web of support for all students to access year round learning opportunities, thinking beyond the traditional idea of school. The Boston Public Schools is seeking a Manager of Industry Partnerships and Volunteerism to implement the district’s strategy to increase equitable access to high-quality opportunities provided by external partners. RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with teammates to create a systematic, process-driven approach to corporate partner outreach and relationship management Collaborate with supervisor and teammates to align district goals and partner relationships Implement evaluation and data collection processes to ensure district ability to measure and report the outcomes, impact and results of projects and work with corporate and industry partners Lead the design and implementation of partnership events to support partner matching for school and district offices Cultivate and manage industry partners as well as work-based learning and externship opportunities Develop a process to identify and select BPS staff for externships Provide guidance and support to staff participating in externships on effective application to the workplace and sharing of learning with colleagues Offer professional development points or other educational and professional credits, where possible Support the development, facilitation, creation and/or implementation of partnership agreements between BPS and partners, including Memorandums of Understanding, Data Sharing Agreements, Partnership Agreements or Business Contracts; and ensure the written articulation all details, deliverables, and terms Create and manage a range of appropriate opportunities for industry and corporate partner involvement Build deep partnerships between BPS schools and local institutions to close the opportunity gap that separates our students from real world experience, including partnerships ranging from cultural institutions, universities and colleges, community-based organizations, government, hospitals, to for-profit organizations. Co-lead the updating, implementation and utilization of the BPS Partner Quality Standards, and key strategies to vet, assess and promote quality programming provided by partners Identify, develop, launch and oversee volunteer recruitment and management systems to track and deploy volunteers Implement a volunteer recruitment strategy to provide a set of on-demand and planned volunteer opportunities to meet the needs of schools and district offices Ensure that all volunteers go through and pass the CORI process prior to deployment Assess volunteer satisfaction and impact to drive improvements Ensure appropriate and timely use of allocated funding Lead the negotiation and preparation of contracts and related requirements Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with members the team and divisions Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school and district staff ? Maintain a relationship with the Region VI Science and Engineering Fair committee and support planning and execution of the fair as availability allows Represent division to external partners Other duties as directed Most Corporate Giving programs involve/require volunteerism on site. This person should be able to connect with BEDF to identify or manage relationships with them. Qualifications - Required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience Five years experience in program development, administration and management in the business, nonprofit or public sector Understanding of the city of Boston and it’s partner and corporate landscape Project management skills Knowledge of adult learning and youth development theories Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated mastery of Microsoft Office Suite, Google workflow, and social media platforms Ability to adhere to a long range strategic plan keeping day to day operations smooth Demonstrated poise in meeting and managing short term and long range deadlines Experience analyzing data and using data to drive change Demonstrated experience with project and budget management, including meeting tight deadlines to successfully achieve goals Proven ability to translate complex information and data into user friendly reports and presentations for a range of audiences Proactive, creative, and tenacious problem-solver with experience in organizing others to accomplish projects and can employ impeccable judgment, discretion, and integrity when making decisions Experience managing the production of printed materials, including brochures and manuals Excellent presentation skills including the development of clear materials Strong meeting facilitator for a range of audiences Detail oriented and organized Ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives in a very high-paced environment Ability to work some evenings and weekends Qualifications - Preferred: Bilingual or multilingual Master's Degree Experience with the Boston Public Schools 6 or more years in the education program development and/or related fields Terms: Managerial, C43. City of Boston Residency is Required.
