State of Massachusetts Legislative Liaison in Boston, Massachusetts

  • Identify, develop and maintain key stakeholder lists inclusive of elected/appointed officials, project stakeholders, impacted residents, businesses, Title VI, disability and elderly

  • Provide timely, accurate and reliable information both proactively and reactively to all stakeholders

  • Manage stakeholder relationships, develop third-party alliances, and effectively communicate progress internally

  • Work to ensure that all messages and documents are consistent in content to that of the relative Highway District Communications and outside Public Involvement Consultants

  • Keep internal staff aware of important or sensitive issues

  • Identify and facilitate Highway related events, i.e. Ribbon cutting, ground-breaking ceremonies, etc.

  • Provide briefings to the Secretary and Senior Management as needed

  • Develop and build meaningful relationships with Legislators, Municipal Officials, and other stakeholders

  • Respond in a timely manner and communicate proactively with all stakeholders

  • Keep legislative offices informed on issues or projects in their respective districts

  • Create and implement quarterly newsletters highlighting major Highway District Projects, and distribute to State Legislators and staff

  • Schedule and attend meetings as well as provide applicable subject matter expertise and information

  • Provide timely responses to the Governor's Office of Constituent Services.

_Preferred Qualifications:_

  • Experience working with Mass. State Legislature

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*

II. A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of three years of the required (A) experience.*

III. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

NOTE: No substitutions will be permitted for the required (B) experience.
