This is a remote opportunity based in the Northeast. The ideal candidate is located in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic regions.

The Internal Communications Specialist crafts content for major, multi-division Thermo Fisher Scientific sites with strategic impact on the company’s research and development, manufacturing, distribution and business operations. Our audiences include shift-based operations and distribution colleagues, research scientists, product managers, corporate team members, and executive leadership.

What will you do?

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the annual communications plan, including the cascade of leadership messages, company news, customer stories and employee recognition to the right audiences at the right times

  • Create graphics and communications collateral for the team, including PowerPoint slides and email banners

  • Develop and post content using communications channels and platforms (intranet sites, enterprise social media channels, video streaming, etc.). Leverage Office 365 apps, including SharePoint, Yammer, Stream, and Teams, to reach our employee base more effectively.

  • Connect and collaborate across the business to build a pipeline of impactful stories and drive content creation for sharing across the intranet, Yammer and beyond.

  • Build and implement social media campaigns via our social media tool

  • Develop slides and talking points for town halls, executive visits, and other significant internal events and activities

  • Set up logistics for the team’s various communications mechanisms, including leadership team meetings and town halls, and lead day-of logistics for each, as needed.

  • Handle various other employee communication initiatives and projects as the need arises

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, public relations, communications journalism, creative writing, or other field required

  • 4+ years successful contribution in communications, public relations, marketing for a highly-matrixed, diverse organization

  • Success in developing and implementing communication campaigns with measurable business impact

  • Accomplished writer, editor and communicator.

  • Combination of strategic and creative problem-solver and hands-on tactician.

  • Experience in fast paced environment coupled with strong prioritization capabilities and flexibility.

  • Experience in social media platforms, intranet content development, and other communication technologies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good judgement in decision making and leadership actions with capabilities to inspire change through creative, innovative, and inclusive methods, ideas & approaches

  • Proven organizational skills, attention to detail, problem analysis and resolution, analytical ability, as well as listening, and influencing skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written

  • Ability to optimally influence and collaborate with others to achieve team goals and expectations.

  • Excellent PowerPoint capabilities
