INFORMATION SPECIALIST EXECUTIVE BUREAU/INFORMATIONservicesCENTER Attorney General Maura Healey is looking for a highly motivated individual to join her team as an Information Specialist in the Attorney General’s Information Services Center. The Information Services Center (ISC) answers inbound calls from the public, provides information to callers, and makes internal and external referrals. Primary Duties: An Information Specialist is a public-facing position in ISC and plays a central role in the Office’s handling of public inquiries. Information Specialists serve as the first point of contact for most members of the public who call the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) and are responsible for answering questions, providing information, and making referrals, as appropriate, to other government agencies or community organizations. Information Specialists may also send out complaint forms and other materials to callers, provide explanations and directions to the public regarding the filing, processing, and assignment of complaints, as well as information relating to the work of various divisions. Information Specialists will participate in regular trainings with divisions across the AGO. An Information Specialist will help identify opportunities for improving the way the AGO collects and provides information to the public and will work closely with AGO Consumer Specialists in developing information and materials for presentation to the public. An Information Specialist may also work closely with Consumer Specialists, attorneys, and others in the development and implementation of response strategies to situations involving broad or urgent public needs. An associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree is preferred. We seek an individual committed to working in the public interest and who has significant experience working with people from different ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds. This position requires extensive phone communication with members of the public. The candidate must be able to work effectively with the general public, convey information, and interact positively with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress. The candidate should have the ability to adjust to changing situations and priorities and be comfortable spending a significant portion of each day on the telephone. Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, Cantonese, or Mandarin is strongly preferred. The position also requires strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; strong reading abilities and comprehension; and strong customer service skills. Familiarity with web-based applications is required.
