The Marketing & Brand team centralizes Channel Business Strategy with creative execution and measurement. This team is responsible for driving business growth and building and communicating our core brand values and goals.

Position Summary:

MassMutual is looking for a highly skilled and adaptable professional to lead the Marketing Strategy for our MassMutual Financial Advisors (MMFA) Distribution network. This role will work with an Independent field model which consists of financial experts across protection, wealth, and wealth-focused independent advisors. They will need to understand the distinct marketing needs for distributing holistic financial advice through protection and wealth solutions, including wealth, banking, and lending offerings.

This person understands the network of tools, digital technology, and resources needed to help independent advisors build their business and help their clients succeed with financial wealth planning and protection products. They also know how to position the brand in an advisor choice distribution model and realize what is necessary for customers to value the MMFA advisor their single source for all of their wealth management accounts and planning.

Keys to success in the MMFA marketing strategy role include building and maintaining strong business relationships and partnerships, understanding product diversity and competitiveness, and an ability to align resources and cross collaborate to design and drive the independent distribution marketing strategy forward to execute on sales and growth goals.

What success looks like.

This role is responsible for building a strong connection with marketing across sales, service, technology, and product teams, to drive growth and cross sell opportunities. It requires developing and overseeing the marketing strategy for MMFA and identifying innovative ways to reach diverse target audiences. We’ll look for candidates who demonstrate a strong track record of managing teams, strategic integrated marketing campaign development, and an ability to collaborate across a transformative organization and COE model. This person should be able to operate with minimal hierarchy and a wide degree of responsibility with little oversight.

What your days and weeks will include.

  • Lead a team of channel marketing strategists focused on supporting manufacturing and distribution needs to drive growth

  • Operate across a transformative organization with an ability to partner with a centralized Marketing COE on the execution of campaigns and strategic marketing programs

  • Design marketing support around the unique needs of an independent advisor distribution network and what is critical to support their business growth around recruiting, leads, client retention, and how to establish, manage and grow their business

  • Provide marketing strategy and tools for a distinct distribution business growing on a new digital technology platform and drive the best in class marketing support for an enhanced digital experience to advisors and their clients

  • Develop marketing strategies that reach target audiences based on business priorities, data-driven insights, and measureable generation of results

  • Align with enterprise customer segmentation and experience efforts and approaches, and develop strategic marketing support and customized journeys specifically in the Affluent, High Net Worth, and rising affluent client markets

  • Lead the design and strategic input for briefs (single source of truth) and marketing capabilities for all manufacturing and distribution support needs for MMFA network

  • Engage with product marketing team to support product growth targets and go-to-market and sales strategies (promotion efforts) unique to the MMFA distribution and sales goals

  • Work closely with brand management team to maintain brand consistency and support in a optional brand architecture model where advisors have brand choice depending on their business needs

  • Manage relationships with Public Relations and Internal Communications teams

  • Oversee budget and prioritization planning to evaluate spend

The skills that make you a great fit.

  • 15+ years of Marketing experience; 8+ years of experience in a management position overseeing a team

  • Experience and track record of succes in driving marketing for an independent distribution network supporting manufacturing and distribution growth targets

  • Strong understanding of the digital technology platforms that help advisors drive growth and how marketing can support and connect in an innovative, changing digital environment

  • Proven ability to think strategically while balancing execution-oriented, proactive, creative and innovative thinking

  • Experience building robust data and marketing technology capabilities that enhance marketing efficiency and effectiveness

  • Ability to work well cross functionally to build alignment and reach objectives

  • Demonstrated success driving revenue and maximizing company profits

  • Strong interpersonal capabilities including abilities to develop strong trust-based relationships, manage effectively and build and motivate high-performing teams

  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence teams and key decision makers and lead an organization through change

  • Polished communication skills. Humility. Ability to confidently lead presentations to non-marketing C-Level teams

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Series 7

  • Experience working in a complex business environment, ideally in the financial services industry

  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
