Job Description

  • Lead and manage multiple teams responsible for advancedtechnology services globally.

  • Drive the development and implementation of advancedtechnologiesacrossvarious domains.

  • Providestrategicdirection and leadership as a senior technology director.


  • Lead and manage teams responsible for deliveringadvancedtechnology services globally.

  • Drive the development and implementation of cutting-edgetechnologies, includingbutnot limited to cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data analytics.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful deployment of automatedinfrastructure and software solutions.

  • Ensure the quality and security of deployments, includingproper key management, encryption, and detection.

  • Manage and collaborate with third-party operations teams to deliver high-quality services.

  • Ensure the steady operation of advancedtechnology capabilities globally.

  • Serve as the lead for implementing and deployingartifacts for advancedtechnology products.

  • Work independently and collaboratively to solve complextechnologyproblems.

  • Automate tasks for software and infrastructure deployment and monitoring.

  • Design, build, and deploycomplex systems and products to delivervalue to the organization.

  • Demonstrateadvancedtooling and techniques to technical teams across the company.


  • Lead and contribute to the development of advancedtechnology services globally.

  • Stay updated on the latestadvancements in technology and explore new platforms and tools.

  • Manage and maintain the software infrastructuresupportingadvancedtechnologyplatforms.

  • Understand and implementmodern deployment techniques usingindustry-standard tools.

  • Implement deployments in ascalable and efficientmannerusingRESTfulAPIs, microservices, and containerization.


Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • Solve complextechnologyproblemsindependently and collaboratively.

  • Demonstrateadvancedtooling and techniques to technical teams.

  • Stay updated on moderntechnologies and industrytrends.


  • Ability to managemultiple 3rd party operations providers to deliver at appropriate levels of quality, response times, stability and agility.

  • Ability to work with DevOpsengineersacross Takeda in amodernEcosystem of Products, Platforms, Analytics and Microservices to give Takeda a modern footprint.

  • Align and Drive ourAgile and DevOpsdrivenoperations groups to a better end-state, for R&D and set an advisoryexample for the rest of Takeda.

  • Manage and collaborate with third-party operations providers to deliver high-quality services.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to drive the organization'stechnology strategy.

  • Providestrategicdirection and leadership as a senior technology director.

  • Drive advancedtechnologydevelopment and implementation, stayingat the forefront of emergingtechnologies.

  • Manage and optimize the budget for R&D activities, ensuringresources are allocatedeffectively.

  • Determine and implementusefulemergingtechnologies on a global scale, drivinginnovation and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members, including Data Engineering, Data Scientists, Functional Leads, Business Partners, Product Owners, and others, to alignefforts and achieveshared goals.

  • Reinforce and coordinate with otherDevOps engineering organizations to ensureseamlessintegration and coordination of technical aspectsacross the ecosystem.

  • Engage with Enterprise Architecture, otherDevOps teams, Platform Teams, Functional Data Teams, and Quality Teams to ensure the harmoniouscoexistence of Data Engineering services with other best practices and deployments.


  • Ability to work with othercutting-edge teams, including Data Engineering and AI, to drive future state capabilities thattend to involve work thatmay be unknown in the beginning.

  • Ability to understandcomplexproblems and be able to applymoderntechnology patterns to them.

  • Ability to iterate and innovate astheyapplymodern product techniques whilefostering an environmentthatencouragesappliedinnovation.

  • Drive the development of future state capabilities in advancedtechnologies.

  • Ability to distillcomplexoperational feedback intoactionable strategies, implementations and stable deployments.

  • Ability to have an agile time-based delivery team operatewithin a traditional project and waterfall-based funding and approvalcycles.

  • Drive complex deployments from Design to implementation and finally deployment. Many of these solutions are difficult to make stable at scale.

  • Translatecomplexoperational feedback intoactionable strategies and implementations.

  • Navigate traditional project and funding cycleswhileleading agile delivery teams.

  • Drive complex deployments from design to implementation, ensuringscalability and stability.


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalentexperience (Master's Degree preferred).

  • 15+ years of experienceas a technical specialist or relevant project work, with a focus on global impact.

  • Provenexperience in managingoutsourcedoperations teams as a virtualoperations team, with a track record of successfulcollaboration and delivery.

  • Strong understanding of scripted deployment scripts, includingAnsible, Cloud Formation, Puppet, or Chef, with the ability to design and implementefficient deployment processes.

  • Extensive working knowledge of bothHadoop and HPC environments, with a deep understanding of theirarchitecture and best practices.

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of IAAS environments, with a strong focus on AWS and its services.

  • Experience managingadvanced data platforms, includingNoSQL databases (suchasMongoDB) and SQL databases (suchasPostgreSQL, MySQL), aswellas Spark environments.

  • Proficiency and understanding of Docker and other container-based services, with the ability to design and implementcontainerization strategies.

  • Ability to thrive in an agile and rapidlychangingenvironment, delivering high-qualityresultswithin tight deadlines.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams and stakeholders.

Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. We are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices.

For Location:

Boston, MA

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$169,400.00 - $266,200.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
