The MENTOR Network Growth and Strategy Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

The MENTOR Network is a mission-based organization dedicated to providing high quality services to those we serve. We are seeking a Manager of Growth and Strategy to join our Growth Accelerator Program (GAP) team! This role is open to a remote candidate.

The MENTOR Network is a national network of local health and human services providers offering an array of quality, community-based services to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain and spinal cord injuries, and to youth with emotional, behavioral and medically complex challenges, as well as their families; and to elders in need of support.

As part of the organization’s strategic vision to expand traditional service lines and accelerate growth, The MENTOR Network is building a world-class Growth Accelerator Program (“GAP”). As a part of the newly established enterprise strategy function, this agile group will accelerate MENTOR’s ability to identify, vet, pilot, and launch growth initiatives. The Manager of Growth and Strategy will be a key leader for this new program. S/he will act as a strategic thought partner, contribute to building GAP’s approach, and lead high profile initiatives sponsored by the company’s Executive Leadership Team. These cross-functional efforts will help position The MENTOR Network as an innovative leader of high quality services to the individuals we serve.

  • Strategic Thinking: Clearly and rapidly define growth themes and vet their strategic fit. Articulate the potential impact and resources needed to develop the full business case.

  • Program Ownership & Management: Bring the best ideas to life! Take ownership of successful execution and implementation of GAP initiatives. Drive execution, oversee multiple initiatives, and provide strategic guidance along the way.

  • Relationship Management: Foster relationships with MENTOR’s stakeholders, including C-Suite, Board of Directors, and PE sponsors. Build rapport across the organization, communicate GAP’s organizational value, and demonstrate how it functions as a mechanism to gain support for ideas that will improve lives and accelerate growth. Constantly apply an appreciation and understanding of the culture, core capabilities and businesses of The MENTOR Network.

  • Multidimensional Analysis: Perform detailed analysis with a high level of rigor. Help internal teams understand the benefits and costs of various GAP entrants. Analysis may include conducting market-level analysis, creating pro formas, interviewing internal team members, gathering data within the organization, or engaging with external consultants.

  • Methodology / Approach: Develop standardized approaches, tools, and other resources that will establish GAP’s foundation. Clearly document the strategic rationale behind “go/ no-go” decisions for GAP opportunities. Use results of analysis to drive efficient resource allocation and organizational focus.

  • Performs other related duties and activities as required.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS required; MBA or Masters in related discipline is a bonus.

  • 4+ years work experience in a relevant field with demonstrated cross-functional and project management experience; this is a great opportunity for those with experience in consulting, banking, private equity, corporate strategy, or startup operations.

  • Experience leading strategic analysis, market research, and competitive intelligence.

  • Strong leadership skills and history of increased management responsibility.

  • Demonstrated ability of challenging conventions and bringing fresh ideas forward by listening to and working with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Strategic thinker, balanced with ability to “roll up sleeves”; strong quantitative and analytical skills; utilizes data to support recommendations and initiatives.

  • Strong ability to execute and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Team player and willing to accept and apply feedback.

  • Embraces the mission of the organization while having the ability to focus on business results.

  • Strong personal communication skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships across a broad range of disciplines, functions, and interests across the organization.

  • Demonstrated business management skills that have led to developing strategies and programs that drive real, measurable results.

  • Ability to quickly adapt to change and lead others through change in a fast-paced environment.
