Cabot Corporation Global Communications Manager in Boston, Massachusetts
We are looking for an experienced, communications professional who is eager to help build and execute a strong communications strategy in a dynamic, global organization. The Communications Manager plays a vital role in the management, development, and execution of communications programs to enhance and protect Cabot's reputation with various stakeholders. This position will drive awareness for the Cabot brand and its innovative products and will engage a broader audience in understanding how Cabot is connected to global macro-trends. The role will be mainly focused on content strategy and development for external audiences via traditional, digital and social channels. The role will support the development of strategic communication messages to various stakeholders and deliver results-focused communications strategies and tactical plans. He or she will work closely with a variety of internal businesses and functions from around the world to create consistent and impactful narratives that support Cabot’s overarching brand objectives.
-Support the development and execution of a proactive global communications strategy, ensuring integration with business segments and corporate strategies.
-Work closely with Corporate Communications team and members of senior leadership team on the development and implementation of corporate communications initiatives.
-Develop strategic media relations plan to elevate Cabot’s public profile.
-Work collaboratively with Marketing Communications and other departments to ensure we are properly leveraging our communication activity (i.e., we are bringing segment news and opportunities to corporate activities, and vice versa).
-Establish relationships with people most responsible for communications-related activities within the regions to strengthen alignment between Corporate -Communications and the regions.
-Serve as a thought-leader, proactively generating thought leadership ideas, strategies and tactics.
-Build and foster media relationships, including those with print, online and broadcast outlets.
-Write and oversee the creation of communications materials, including press releases, key messages, presentations, spokesperson Q&A, social media content, media pitches, bylined articles, branding, website content and other external-facing materials about Cabot.
-Provide training, counsel and other support to senior executives and subject matter experts for media interviews or public speaking opportunities.
-Drive communications best practices: content, approaches and distribution vehicles.
-Serve on crisis communication core team to ensure proper media relations management and training. Identify and assess corporate reputation risks to protect the Cabot’s brand.
-Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices to identify opportunities to apply new digital technologies and services to improve communications.
-Proven understanding of, and experience in, public and media relations.
-Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders.
-Collaborative team player that is flexible, solution-oriented, and capable of articulating complex topics.
-Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to interact with internal and external agencies as needed. Superior writing skills.
-Strong organizational and planning skills in order to coordinate various activities simultaneously.
-Must be comfortable working on a small team, in a fast-paced environment that requires ongoing management of multiple projects at one time.
-Must be able to meet deadlines and work with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
-Proficiency with Microsoft applications, specifically PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe including with Creative Suite applications and video editing capabilities a plus.
-Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing or related field.
-Minimum 6-8 years in a corporate communications or agency environment, with strong business acumen.
