IHS Markit Executive Director, Gas and Power Research in Boston, Massachusetts
As an Executive Director with IHS Markit’s Financial Advisory, you will be responsible for developing and managing research flow for our research and analytics services that cover gas and power policy, markets and industry trends for financial investors. You will be responsible for a growing team which aims to deliver analysis and advisory to our clients into the key trends driving gasp and power investments and tackle the strategic issues that investors are grappling with as they invest in this space. You will be the key interlocutor to our commercial and sales team into strategizing and implementing our growth strategy, and responsible for delivering the research as well as implementing our commercial strategy to achieve clients and revenue growth. A US focus is expected, but an understanding of global trends is also required.
Take ownership over gas and power analytical research within the scope of the Energy Advisory and EnergyView suite of energy services
Develop and articulate a research agenda adapted to the needs of financial clients
Deliver clear, concise and actionable analysis and insight through written analysis, commentary and interpretation of market events and developing trends in the gas and power space for investors
We are looking for a candidate with ability to direct and take ownership of a research agenda while working within our network of experts in across IHS Markit and translate ideas and forecast into short and actionable notes for investors
The position requires also editing strategic notes written by team members on the same subject
Support salespeople/product managers in sales meetings by providing commercial, actionable insights to prospects and clients that leverage your subject matter expertise
Assistance in the implementation of commercial strategy, including identifying the client needs and feedback to relevant commercial and sales groups
Relationship maintenance and development of key relationships within client groups
Working with product/sales groups in the expansion of the services, execution and renewal of contracts
You will be working in the Financial and Capital Markets team within the Energy division at IHS Markit, which is part of a globally distributed group of analysts, data scientists and product managers. The research team is made up of energy experts with varied subject matter expertise spanning the energy value chain. You will be based in Washington, DC, New York, or Boston.
10+ years of extensive work experience in energy markets with specialist knowledge of one or more of the following focus areas: US natural gas markets and US power markets, Global gas and LNG, (US or global), European power markets, financial trends in energy, energy investments.
Experience in market analysis and forecasting of gas and power markets is required.
Impeccable writing and editing skills in English. This is a position that requires writing frequent short and concise analytical notes, and a track record and experience in issuing frequent analysis is a must.
Graduate degree in English, Economics, International Relations, Business Administration, Journalism or related fields.
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Microsoft PowerBI or Tableau is a plus.
