About the Role:

The Director Vertical Solutions, Retail will serve as an experienced advisor to shaping the future of vertical markets for Windstream. This role will develop strategic plans for vertical/industry and assist key stakeholders externally and internally toward execution. The role of the Director Vertical Solutions, Retail will be the key figurehead for our company within the vertical as well as, internally enable sales, pre-sales, and partners to position Windstream within the vertical; consult with marketing to raise brand and vertical awareness; and assist Engineering and Product Marketing by providing industry/vertical insight into regulatory and corporate compliance requirements. This role will contribute to Windstream’s overall growth and position Windstream to be trusted advisor in vertical/industry.

What You’ll Do:

Strategy:

  • Create strategic framework to accelerate and elevate Windstream’s vertical positioning in the marketplace

  • Collaborate with Windstream and Industry stakeholders to position Windstream as a vertical visionary in the marketplace

  • Enable sales and pre-sales to position Windstream within the vertical marketplace

  • Work with partner ecosystem to capitalize on vertical practices and develop strategic plans to expedite time to market and bookings growth

Execution:

  • Create multi-year strategy, inclusive of technology roadmap, partner plans, business development, partnership with Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing, and Partner teams. This business plan will be framework on how to grow Windstream’s footprint within vertical and investments required to become relevant in vertical

  • Provide industry/vertical insight into legal and regulatory compliance challenges to key stakeholders within Windstream

  • Provide leadership and closed loop feedback with executive sponsors and internal stakeholders to ensure constant evolution of vertical positioning and offerings

  • Develop consultative framework via partnerships and share best practices

  • Provide training and tools to enable sales and pre-sales to speak language of vertical

  • Work with CTO, Product Management and Engineering on strategies for specific product/solutions, region, segments, and customer

  • Participate directly in sales motions with key accounts, forging relationships with decision makers, managing the sales process through to closure

  • Engage with key partners in each region to develop and scale strategic partnerships within vertical practices

  • Engage with Vertical leaders to position Windstream as thought leader and gain insight to trends in vertical marketplace

  • Manage industry event presentations and lead executive roundtable discussions

  • Analyze market share gains, sales outcomes, customer feedback and other key metrics to assess the health and progress of vertical strategy and its ability to drive consistent revenue

  • Advise in development of tools to guide and measure vertical performance

Do You Have?

  • Experience working within your assigned vertical

  • Demonstrated and verifiable record of achievement in enterprise strategic account management, consultative sales and uncovering new logo targets

  • A proven track record of following up on generated leads that result in the acquisition of new business; experience driving a strategic consulting service into new accounts while consistently achieving or exceeding sales goals by generating and maintaining a qualified pipeline

  • Experience working as a trusted advisor to decision makers at all levels within large corporations to understand the direction of the business and offer strategic solutions

  • Experience selling into technical/solutions-based industry including experience with complex deals, enterprise level customers, multi-location customers, Retail, or Retail-like customers

  • Demonstrated experience selling multi-tower solution deals

  • Disciplined approach selling into Right-to-Win space,

  • Outstanding organization and project management skills; strong verbal, written, and formal presentation skills; proficient in MS office products

  • Strong business, financial and technical acumen

  • Working knowledge of selling IP, data, and voice network services

  • Strong client service relationship-building skills; persuasive with the ability to analyze and solve problems, negotiate, and close deals.

  • College degree or equivalent and 12 years related professional experience with 4-5 years supervisory experience or 14 years related professional experience with 4-5 years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, related professional and supervisory experience required.

Even Better:

  • Preferable experience as CTO at a vertical provider/company, Director of Digital Strategy or owning vertical vision for Retail

  • Extensive knowledge of complexity and compliance regulations within vertical market

  • Experience with software industry solutions, evolutions, or trends

  • Experience in building complex IT environments to support vertical regulations or practices

  • Strategic thinker who can develop structured plans, actions, and measurable metrics to execute those plans

  • Ability to plan and organize, set priorities, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Independent, stress-tolerant, self-motivated, competitive, assertive, pro-active, and results-oriented; able to work with minimum direction.

  • Adept at prospecting and using effective consultative selling practices.

  • Understands market dynamics including demographics.
