Job Summary

As the Director of Product Management, you will play a critical role in developing and directing Skyword?s product strategy for our next generation SAAS platform, contributing to the transformation of our business.

The Product Development Director is scrappy, and an effective problem solver with a passion for managing web-based products. They are responsible for leading the organization in identifying and defining features that help our team members, customers and contributors use Skyword?s content marketing platforms more effectively and easily.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Know our products inside and out, understand the needs of our end users, and recognize the challenges that exist

  • Design customer-focused solutions that have strong value propositions, meet demonstrated market needs, and provide unique competitive advantage

  • Manage the lifecycle of products from requirements to product release

  • Lead the members of a product management team

  • Drive product vision of the organization and be responsible for its success across initial concept, scope, specification, prioritization, design, and implementation

  • Understand our competition fully to influence strategy, positioning, and pricing strategies

  • Act as a product owner in an Agile environment: create user stories and user acceptance criteria, and prioritize product backlogs

  • Identify necessary metrics to measure the progress and effectiveness of projects

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize, and proactively communicate issues and decisions

  • Identify opportunities for innovative products and features that leverage the unique capabilities of other social and marketing platforms

  • Interact closely with marketing, sales, development, quality assurance, and customer service teams to deliver a market-leading product

  • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure feasibility, proper scope, and time-to-market tradeoffs, and provide value quickly through iterative development

  • Collect and analyze user behavior and understand our customers needs through research, interviews, testing, collaboration, and brainstorming

  • Be an advocate for our users and influence the product team and the overall organization to achieve solutions that are right for users

  • Research competitive sites and stay up to date with the latest content marketing and social platform trends

    Required Capabilities

  • Team player: excel in a team-oriented environment and develop strong working relationships across the organization

  • Ability to recognize the most important issues, prioritize your time, and deliver results consistently

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to present product and design ideas to senior management as well as customers

  • Ability to provide simple solutions to complex product issues with solid decision-making skills

  • Flexibility to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where priorities may change frequently

  • Ability to travel periodically

  • Bachelor?s Degree; Master?s Degree preferred

    Preferred Capabilities

  • Understanding of modern web/SaaS technologies and systems. You can have conversations with technology team members about technical design tradeoffs

  • Knowledge of Agile Scrum methodologies

  • Experience with content management systems, APIs, and social networking platforms

  • An understanding of the content marketing space and search engine optimization (SEO)

  • Experience using JIRA and prototyping tools

  • Experience crafting integration strategies between different applications and understanding the challenges of API based products

    Location

    The preferred location for this candidate is in the Boston area, to eventually work out of our Boston office in a post COVID world. We are however, open to qualified candidates who would work remotely from their home anywhere in the United States. Hours for this position are based on the eastern time zone.
