Job Details

Would you like to work on one of the most innovative products in the Business Intelligence industry? Tableau revolutionized self-service data visualization by replacing paper reports with dynamic, interactive data visualizations to help people see and understand data. The data organization is responsible for the technology stack that enables our customers to get their data ready for analysis. We are looking for an experienced product manager who would like to be part of that mission.

As a Product Manager Director in the Data Pipeline team, you’ll be responsible for advancing Tableau’s strategy for its data platform, owning our query pipeline, and all performance-focused initiatives. This state-of-the-art data pipeline is the foundation for the Tableau product ecosystem, allowing people to securely access and federate data to enable analysis, data management, and preparation. Whether on-premise or in the cloud, the data pipeline is central to our core mission: to help people see and understand data. We have several, strategic performance-focused initiatives that span integration, ingestion and query, all of which you will handle. Unlike a typical platform role, these initiatives span infrastructure to end user UX.

You will work closely with the engineering team to bring new capabilities to market. You will work closely with customers and partners to understand their use cases and find creative solutions to make them successful. We have challenges in getting data ready for analysis at scale with dedication while improving data freshness. This is a role that will have big impact on Tableau’s success.

Responsibilities:

  • Help define the product strategy and roadmap for how to get data ready for customers at their scale and performance.

  • Deliver vision and requirement documents with prioritized features and corresponding justification.

  • Extensive work with engineering teams to scope, prioritize and drive feature specifications.

  • Research and understand the trends of data analysis, data extraction and refreshing, and data platforms. Must be able to translate the implications of these trends into actionable requirements for Tableau development.

  • Present Tableau product capabilities, vision, value propositions, and roadmap briefings to customers, prospects, the Tableau sales team, and at public events.

  • Collaborate with strategic customers as a Tableau trusted advisor to ensure their success, handle critical issues, requirements analysis and product planning activities.

  • Collaborate with product marketing on positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on high-scale, preferably Cloud native, data services, service API’s, and distributed systems at scale.

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.

  • Strong ability to grasp and translate customer needs into technical database capabilities. You have knowledge of the database landscape (domain expertise in databases is preferred).

  • Ability to go deep into technology and relate customer use cases to technical enhancements. You love speaking with customers and learning more about their product needs. · Evangelist. You are an evangelist and will be tasked with communicating your priorities to internal and external parties.

  • Ability to communicate both business and technical topics to diverse audiences.

  • Self-starter. You are intrinsically motivated and committed at driving projects from start to finish.

  • Data Enthusiast. You have a strong desire to help people see and understand data.
