About the role:
Global Product & Launch Strategy (GPLS) is Takeda’s global commercial strategy organization focused on fueling the growth of Takeda through our inline portfolio strategy and focus on the LCM and on launching the future by focusing on our rich pipeline. Our main goal is to prepare to commercialize our unprecedented pipeline that includes the best or in first-class therapies, many of which have complex or under-developed markets or therapy areas. The Senior Director, Portfolio Expansion and Disease Area Strategy role is an important part of this mission and is critically important to our success.
Accountabilities:
Overall accountable for commercial assessment, planning and prioritization for commercial development activities for all NS Disease Area Strategy. Also overall accountable for commercial assessment for all Business Development activities / in licensing / due diligence activities for a specific area.
Disease Area / Asset strategy champion: accountable for developing, and refining / refreshing the comprehensive, asset strategy including launch strategy and lifecycle plan for all Early Pipeline programs.
Commercial leadership: manage all commercially relevant activities across all relevant matrix partners in Takeda including Regions, R&D and peer functions within GPLS.
Team Leadership: Provide direct managerial oversight of a New Product Lead (NPL) in the early Pipeline organization, ensuring their professional development and performance, while also engaging and provide strategic direction and oversight to supporting functions with the GPLS team including global pricing and access, and market insights.((Write two or three sentences that describe the role (example below).
How you will contribute:
·Develop a comprehensive commercial strategy for all NS Disease Area Strategies across all teams.
Successful assessment and planning of development activities for each Program
Ensure a structure and culture of constructive and successful collaboration with matrix partners is being established and continued through understanding of main global responsibilities, including Commercial, Clinical Development, Global Medical Affairs, Global Regulatory Affairs, Global Manufacturing and Supply, and other departments as needed. ·
Establish and define a clear value proposition for the opportunity that maximizes the benefit to patients, payers, prescribers, providers, and policymakers and therefore the portfolio’s value through the development of the opportunity and ensure the aligned implementation across the departments.
Collaborate with market insights partner to develop comprehensive market assessment (disease overview, patient population and segmentation, treatment paradigm, unmet needs, competitive assessment, patient journey and forecast)
Lead the development of target product profiles (TPPs) and target product claims (TPCs) based on understanding of market dynamics and potential future trends
Direct / implement commercial projects to inform clinical development and commercialization plans
Work with medical affairs, market access, health economics and outcomes research teams to ensure the development, payer, and health system value propositions.
Build and align the matrixed organization on the building blocks (early Global Brand Plan), partnering with internal partners to manage to gaps /opportunities
Evaluate market environments, collaborate with internal and external experts and important customers in identifying unmet needs and translate information into strategies to achieve short-term and long-term franchise goals
Engage the Regional/ strategic LOC counterparts to guarantee a successful commercial assessment development
Lead annual portfolio prioritization efforts from a commercial perspective
Assess opt-in/out-out partnership opportunities
Engage with partners for partnered assets
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
MS/BS in science or business·
10+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry including experience in commercial roles across 2-3 markets
New product planning experience
Desired: ·Advanced degree preferred (MBA, MSc, PhD)·General knowledge of the US market and its dynamics
