SHI Director of Web Content in Boston, Massachusetts

Job Summary

The Director of Web Content will manage both a direct-report design team and work with an extended network of marketing stakeholders to plan the strategy and execution necessary to produce professional-grade design content for publication on SHI.com. The Director of Web Content will support the collective goals of SHI’s various external partners and internal sales and support organizations by producing effective web-based marketing content, as well as coordinating various web initiatives, including but not limited to template development, continued CMS projects, information architecture changes, web optimization initiatives, and interaction with various digital platforms.

This position reports into the Creative Services Director within the Marketing organization and is a remote position with home office setup as determined by SHI management.

Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the evolution of the marketing content on shi.com to drive a better user experience and increased engagement (downloads, form fills, event signups, etc.)

  • Benchmark current performance, identify key areas for improvement, and work with internal stakeholder partners to build (and deliver) a plan of improvement

  • Provide marketing leadership with monthly performance reports and recommendations for continual improvement across the site (more traffic, more time on page, more engagement); highlight under-performance and risk where it is identified

  • Create an effective partnership with the IT e-commerce team at SHI to build better co-working and cross-functionality between the marketing and e-commerce sides of SHI.com

  • Work with stakeholders across SHI business units to create and deliver a web strategy appropriate to supporting SHI’s diverse business units and international presence

  • Work with product marketing and SHI business leaders to define a new Information Architecture that supports SHI’s evolving solution/services portfolio and aligns with a “four pillar” portfolio design; lead the execution of the IA plan, partnering with product marketing

  • Partner with marketing communications to ensure SHI’s company information, culture, and supplier diversity content is refreshed as required

  • Lead the team of web designers to continually improve the design and on-page experience of the SHI.com website; be responsible for the training, continual improvement, and career growth of the web design team members

  • Support the continuing needs of product, partner, and growth marketing with fast-turnaround delivery of web pages (and edits) to support campaigns

  • Ensure the graphical design is consistent with SHI brand guidelines and latest designs from creative team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in either graphic design, visual arts, web and UX, or web development

  • 5+ years in a recognized leadership role in web

  • Understanding of holistic SHI goals as well as those of various sales and support organizations

  • Experience with .NET based content management systems (experience with Kentico Xperience a plus)

  • Existing portfolio of web projects that will be provided for evaluation upon request

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience conceiving, designing, and producing web-based graphic design content

  • Leadership background in web design or strategy and production experience using the applicable computer design tools, coding skills, and languages

  • Background with technical and content SEO principles

  • Experience using and interpreting data in Google Analytics

  • Demonstrated understanding of UX design principles and accessibility guidelines

Required Skills

  • Ability to complete tasks with efficiency and accuracy

  • Ability to lead the strategic direction of Web Content

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Strong management/leadership skills

  • Ability to give and accept constructive criticism/feedback with the constant goal of promoting both the SHI brand and our relationship with partners

  • Ability to utilize HTML, CSS, Bootstrap framework, Responsive design fundamentals, and Adobe Creative Suite or similar design tools

  • Ability to develop brand identity and promote consistency across both web and other marketing deliverables

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience with Marketing Automation platforms (Marketo a plus)

  • Experience with stylesheet development and CSS pre-processors

  • Knowledge of javascript/jQuery

Additional Information

  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
