Downeast Cider House director of marketing in Boston, Massachusetts


Founded at Bates College in Maine in 2011, Downeast Cider is now the #1 craft cider in the U.S. and #2 hard cider in America. Celebrating our 11th year, our small business has now grown to over 100 employees, and with it are growing roles across departments.

Downeast is the #1 cider in Massachusetts with a portfolio of year-round and seasonal ciders available from Virginia to Maine to Colorado and various states in between.

We make all of our own cider at our unfiltered cider house in East Boston.

Director of Marketing:

Our marketing team is the champion of our brand. They maintain a clear understanding of who our customer is, deliver the promise we’re making to them, and execute the fulfillment of that promise across the entirety of the customer experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Marketing will lead our expanding team.


Develop Excellence across our Owned Premise organization

  • Develop and open new owned premise concepts across our footprint, driving relevance for our consumers and keeping us top of mind.

  • Own P&L statements for our Owned Premise business

    Own Innovation, ensuring we’re staying relevant for our consumers

  • Define strategic direction for Innovation based on deep market insights pulled from syndicated data and our own research

  • Comfortable leading data collection processes internally and with agencies to ensure accurate information to create data insights

    Drive Brand Marketing Activities to keep Downeast Top of Mind

  • Run the annual Brand Planning process, laying out our brand marketing plans

  • Steward the Commercial Action Statement process, ensuring that we’re able to properly view Return on Invested Capital, and make the best, data based decisions

    Grow your people

  • Identify, recruit, and retain a balanced and diverse team based on member/candidate strengths and role fit supported by relevant knowledge, skills, and experience

  • Work with Sales Training team to identify and address individual development needs of team (technical and analytical) skills

  • Provide the foundation for team effectiveness by creating and maintaining team processes

  • Apply training and coaching effectively for individual and team development

  • Complete performance evaluations for direct reports.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in CPG marketing

  • Excel expert, PowerBI experience preferred

  • 5+ years in a team leadership role

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve breakthrough results through the course of work

  • Strong team leadership and management skills - demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and maintain high performers

  • 10% travel possible
