  • Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, the Director of Development will have primary oversight and ownership for building a robust philanthropy effort to support the academic and programmatic priorities for assigned areas. In collaboration and partnership with administrative and physician leadership for assigned areas, the Director of Development will drive all fundraising, including major and annual gifts, related to clinical and research programs and other related development program priorities. Responsibilities: Fundraising: o Provides entrepreneurial leadership that drives Tufts Medical Center's philanthropic commitment to areas of strategic priority o Performs duties of a fundraiser, including cultivating donor relationships soliciting gifts, and ensuring stewardship o Builds a new portfolio of prospects and donors o Executes strategic "moves" and requests with donors and prospects to meet financial and activity goals o Track efforts in database and records moves for accountability. Physician/Scientist Management: o Creates and maintains strong relationships with Tufts Medical Center physicians and scientists o Translates research/science and program related strategies into compelling funding opportunities for donors o Supports and coaches physicians on fundraising best practices. III. JOB REQUIREMENTS: A. JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 1) Demonstrated ability to cultivate, solicit and close five and six -figure gifts; proven experience and success in strategic and leading the solicitation of gifts from high net worth individuals 2) Demonstrated track record of fundraising success in a fast-paced, large organizational structure 3) Demonstrated success in collaborating with senior management, physician and clinical leadership to advance a philanthropic program 4) Maturity to navigate complex relationships 5) Exceptional interpersonal/communication skills 6) Superior organizational abilities and detail orientation 7) Strong knowledge of all fundraising approaches, with special expertise and understanding of building a grateful patient model, annual giving, and major gifts 8) Excellent verbal and written communication with both internal and external constituents. B. C. EDUCATION: o Bachelor's degree; advanced degree or professional certification preferred. D. EXPERIENCE: o 10 years of experience in frontline fundraising in a complex organization; experience at an academic, research, or hospital/health care environment is preferred.
