What will you do?

This US based remote position is ideal for an energetic and experienced professional with scientific distinction who is capable of directing a highly skilled team of business development specialists whose task is to drive business development, lead creation and sales support throughout the Americas for Life Science Electron microscopy, SEM, TEM and cryoEM. The Director will develop growth strategies and guide the team to execute growth of Thermo Fisher Scientific Life Science Electron Microscopy market share throughout academia and Pharma/Biotech.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Sr. Director of Life Science Account Management to drive and support the needs of the sales team, both scientifically and technically

  • Be an innovator and push boundaries of Electron Microscopy needs for Academia and Pharma/Biotech

  • Drive key business initiatives to build pipeline and bookings

  • Create a growth environment, in collaboration with NA LS Sales, for the development of new strategies to increase market share in all Academia and Pharma/Biotech LSEM sales.

  • Lead, develop, coach and grow a team of highly skilled specialist to fulfill growth strategies

  • Lead detailed work plan meetings with team members

  • Document team activities related to lead creation and sales outcomes

  • Develop metrics that define business development activities and show growth year over year

  • Develop strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders at the highest levels in Academia and Pharma/Biotech

  • Ensure the maintenance of global leading knowledge in Life Science EM and Cryo EM specifically

  • Seek out new technology and workflow developments from the field and bring new innovation to product management

  • Develop and run regular sales/business development/applications support meetings, in alignment and collaboration with Sr. Director of LS Account Management and the Business Unit, to meet the needs of sales growth

  • Develop strong relationships with private and public funding agencies

  • Candidate must exhibit comfort in SEM and TEM strategy, practical process improvement with a disciplined approach to driving sales

  • Lead local marketing events and represent the Life Science business unit as needed

  • Take part and contribute to global and regional sales and strategy meetings as needed

  • Proactively seek out new talent

How will you get there?

Education:

  • Minimum master’s degree with Biology, Cell Biology or Structural Biology emphasis, or similar discipline. PhD is preferred

Experience:

  • Commercially minded individual with Demonstrated experience in development and support of sales teams

  • Minimum master’s degree with Biology, Cell Biology or Structural Biology emphasis, or similar discipline. PhD is preferred

  • 10 years exercise in relevant technical environment, specifically in microscopy markets preferred

  • Exhibited creative growth strategy experience

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with senior executive level team members

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain deep customer relationships, credibility and trust

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally when required and possess both drivers license and valid passport

  • Travel requirement, approximately 50%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven team leader with creative business/sales development strategy skills utilizing process improvement strategies

  • Trained in Miller Heiman strategic selling coaching
