The Global Data Office within Global Retail Markets (GRM) is currently hiring for aDirector II, Data Products to focus on the Agency & Strategic Partnership Domain.The Global Data Office brings a shared data and analytics vision and roadmap that will enable end users and intelligent systems to be effective, efficient and integrated. We want to leverage the latest technologies to build a data platform that is highly stable, scalable and usable with quality disciplines and governance. We want to develop a sustainable globally-minded data community that is multi-skilled with knowledge of cutting edge data technologies and analytical practices/techniques. And finally, we want to define and deliver data driven, end-to-end use cases across GRM that unlock business value, mitigate data pain points and address top customer/stakeholder priorities.
About the role:
Manage highly complex & strategic on premise, Cloud migration and data use case deliveries. Recommend and implement new or enhanced data products to better meet stakeholder or customer needs by leading development of project backlogs and plans, including milestones and dates, identification of parties and processes impacted by a data solution. Set the strategic vision and roadmap for data solutions and stewardship. Lead the ideation, technical development, and launch of innovative products.
Ability to grasp new technologies needed to progress initiatives, while demonstrating an understanding of the use of data in solving a business use case. Can create roadmaps for product delivery, innovate and create new product ideas. Can turn vague ideas or problems into a data product strategy. Influences strategic thinking across the team and the broader organization.
Able to identify stakeholder and customer pain points and strategically address those concerns. Able to describe value and influence the prioritization of data solutions and stewardship.
Have a command of industry trends and an understanding of organizational processes. Solid project management skills to ensure effective project execution. Expected to be a change agent across the organization. Act as a coach and mentor for peers and technical members of project teams, and can communicate effectively across multiple technical units and senior leadership.
Able to break down data issues and resolve them, by prototyping data solutions to meet the needs of both the organization and business customers.
Ability to think through proof-of-concept solutions and how they will be maintained, and can help assess whether proof-of-concepts are viable and scalable by partnering with IT.
Understand full data linage for assigned domain. Hold team accountable to ensure the best quality and full availability of data is in place for that domain. Ensure data stewards are involved in all parts data linage
Ensure data stewards follow core set of responsibilities around data elements:
o Has clear and unambiguous data element definition
o Does not conflict with other data elements in the metadata registry (removes duplicates, overlap etc.)
o Has clear enumerated value definitions
o Is still being used (remove unused data elements)
o Is being used consistently in various systems
o Is being used, fit for purpose
o Has adequate documentation on appropriate usage and notes
o Understands where it comes from and where it goes (data linage)
o Documents the origin and sources of authority on each metadata element
o Is protected against unauthorized access or change
o Certified for use
Ensures partnership between data product owners and data stewards to build out epic, stories, and groom backlogs to address any gaps and needs identified by Data Stewards
Direct team to develop and prototype tactical data solutions to solve complex business problems
Strong written and oral communication skills required.
Experience in communicating recommendations to senior business leaders preferred.
BA/BS, or relevant work experience, in Computer Science or related field preferred. MBA or advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or other quantitative discipline strongly preferred.
10 years of experience working in coding and data solutions design principles, particularly in open source tools and technology, negotiating horizontally and vertically, with a track record of delivering products from ideation to launch.
Experience managing, coaching and developing highly skilled team of various technical and business capabilities and backgrounds.
Strong leadership skills to drive data priorities that enable business priorities.
Strong team building and interpersonal skills for building relationships with customers and stakeholders.
Proven track record of success in data project implementations to support business functions.
Experience in Agile project methods.
Technical skills in SAS, SQL, Python, R, Java and/or database structures a plus.
Experience in Data Strategy and/or Data Solutioning for Agency Distribution and Service and/or Strategic Partnership preferred.
