Position Summary :

Working from an office in Columbia, MD, Boston, MA, or a home-based position, the Director of Curriculum Product Management is responsible for the overall successful management of the curriculum development roadmap and curriculum portfolio. Reporting to the Vice President of Product Management, the Director will work with other product managers and department leaders to build and execute across the roadmap, ensuring it incorporates user experience, market research and analysis, product knowledge, cross-functional product knowledge and leadership, product planning and design, user testing, and evaluation metrics. The Director is expected to strengthen Connection’s innovation, competitiveness, and financial return through continuous improvement of current curriculum product offerings and evaluation of new solutions, including a clear impact on student performance. The Director will be charged with providing guidance and professional development to team members and to being a contributing member of the Product Management team.

Responsibilities :

● Drives planning and execution of a strategic curriculum development roadmap that supports all lines of business in close collaboration with senior and executive leadership;

● Responsible for continued innovation, customer satisfaction, and efficacy within the overall curriculum portfolio;

● Manages several product manager and product owners, enable career growth and professional development for direct reports, foster a culture of inclusivity and empowerment amongst team members;

● Develops an extensive awareness of the curriculum products’ strengths and weaknesses relative to educational trends, market opportunities, and efficacy, and recommends adjustments to product strategies;

● Manages the lifecycle of curriculum offerings;

● Supports, encourages and fosters intelligent risk taking and innovative solutions to build and deliver new curriculum offerings that improve educational impact and meet customer and student needs;

● Serves as an expert on curriculum products, working with marketing, sales, and implementation teams;

● Collaborates on customer-facing projects including training materials, pilot support, customer conversations and sales meetings;

● Working with Sales and Marketing, provides the knowledge base that supports the positioning and marketing strategy for the curriculum product line and works with department leads to establish product pricing, and build the marketing materials, campaign strategy, plans and support to be successful in the marketplace;

● Manages financial performance of the curriculum product lines by monitoring sales forecasts and pipelines as well as product line expenses. Recommends changes to current operating approaches to maximize product line performance;

● Develops systemic processes that are built into the overall planning processes--- by which the company is kept abreast of key trends, customer needs, and thought leaders in corresponding curriculum areas to identify opportunities for growth;

● Prioritizes and manages the curriculum development backlog; and

● Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements :

● 7 years of curriculum product management, curriculum development, or related industry experience

● Bachelor’s degree required, Masters of Business Administration or relevant graduate degree, preferred

● Knowledge of product management, K-12 education research, classroom practice, user experience, and instructional technology products is highly desirable. Past experience in teaching or education related product development, marketing or sales is a plus

● Proven experience effectively leading a cross functional team and working in a matrixed organization

● Proven ability to build product strategies and coherent business plans and oversee those products from conception through implementation and evaluation

● Strategic thinker who can integrate and translate educational trends into product solutions and market positioning

● Proven ability to lead a team, create a supportive work climate, and deliver results as a team

● Previous experience working with cross-functional teams is a plus

● Strong track record of developing partnerships, both internal and external to the organization

● Training in financial analysis is desirable

● Passionate about education and the role of Pearson in improving student learning
