This position is a field-based role and can be based anywhere in the United States.

This is what you will do:

As a key member of the U.S. Market Access and Reimbursement team, the Director of Channel Accounts will be responsible for partnering with internal and external stakeholders to help develop and manage the U.S. channel strategy/execution that will provide access and therapy management services for Alexion’s products to patients. This individual will support the development of Alexion’s distribution strategy, value proposition, and directly manage assigned US Trade partners.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting development and implementation of channel strategies for assigned channel (i.e., Specialty Pharmacy, Specialty Distributor) customers that result in appropriate patient access to Alexon’s medicines

  • Leading negotiations and contracting with assigned channel accounts

  • Managing and monitoring performance of assigned channel accounts

  • Maintaining relationships with senior channel executives based on an expert understanding of the customer’s organizational structure and strategic priorities

  • Leveraging approved resources and internal subject matter experts to communicate the value of our medicines to channel customers

  • Educating internal/external partners on channel operations policies to support their strategic planning

    You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 10+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry

  • 5+ years of experience in Trade account management role with responsibility for national customers

  • Expert knowledge of U.S. market access channel segments (specialty pharmacy, distribution and home infusion)

  • Strong understanding of reimbursement methodologies utilized by commercial and government payers under the medical and pharmacy benefits

  • Established relationships with national channel customers

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Clinical, technical and scientific knowledge and aptitude in complex disease state

  • Travel requirements: Willing to travel at least 50% of the time including significant overnight and weekend travel

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in a field environment.     We would prefer for you to have:

  • Advanced degree preferred

  • Demonstrated success in establishing trade strategies, rare disease distribution networks and channel operational improvements

  • Strong contract negotiation skills
