ICON Clinical Research is currently looking to strengthen our successful Business Development team through the recruitment of a Director, Business Development.

As a Director, Business Development you will be responsible for generating new and repeat business for ICON Clinical Research, promoting our services throughout the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Medical Device industries. Working cross functionally, you will ensure a smooth process at all stages (proposal, bid defense) which maximizes the opportunity for success. You will build strong relationships throughout your geographic responsibility, highlighting ICON’s strength in operations and promoting ICON as the choice partner in drug development.

To be successful in this role you will need to develop, contact and secure new business from prospects, and maintain and grow business from existing clients by positioning ICON in a positive manner.

Director, Business Development Job Responsibilities and Qualifications:

· Recognize, exemplify and adhere to ICON's values which centers around our commitment to People, Clients and Performance

· As a member of staff, the employee is expected to embrace and contribute to our culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business and meeting client needs

· Travel (approximately 40%) domestic and/or international

· Maintain regular contact with current sponsors and develop relationships with potential clients

· Coordinate ICON's RFP process & response

· Coordinate with operations for proposal defense meetings and other operational input

· Maintain regular communication with the Sr. Director of Business development or designee by timely submission of reports

· Positively interact with ICON operations personnel, keeping track of study status for projects with sponsors and coordinate change orders when notified of a change of scope by Project Managers

· Attend and represent ICON at industry meetings and conferences, as appropriate and budgeted

· Ensure highly effective presentation and communication skills and to continually develop these skills through on the job training and external programs

· Meet annual sales goals and objectives

· Maintain an accurate and current client databases

· Weekly reporting of client awards and visits to ensure regular contact with clients

· To undertake other reasonably related duties as may be assigned from time to time

· Undergraduate degree or its international equivalent from an accredited institution required or equivalent experience

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Good time management skills

· The ability to connect with and manage a wide range of individual contributors

· Preferable 3-10 years of CRO experience.

To be successful in this role you should have a background of solutions sales within a CRO environment. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in selling ph.II-III solutions however we will consider individuals with other clinical sales backgrounds (labs etc)
