Bain & Company Inc Digital and Social Media Editor in Boston, Massachusetts

Bain’s Digital and Social Media Editor has two main areas of responsibility:

  • As a digital editor, provides direct editorial support to Bain’s partners and practices, primarily for shorter-form digital content such as blogs and infographics

  • As social media editor and administrator of Bain’s enterprise social media platform (Sprinklr), writes, helps design, and distributes effective, visually arresting social media messaging for all content published by the Editorial Department

Content writing and editing

  • Provide direct writing, editing and website page support to Bain practice leaders and senior partners for firm priority publications and microsites such as,, World Economic Forum, LinkedIn Influencers, etc.

Social media messaging

  • Ensure that all Bain published content is posted to Bain’s critical social media channels and promoted and re-promoted to maximize share of voice

  • Bring strong editorial judgment, critical thinking and a mature, informed B2B perspective to Bain’s social media presence

  • Work with Bain designers to create visually arresting social media posts, including motion graphics

  • Build Bain’s reputation by increasing Bain’s share of voice and engagement in critical social media channels, including:

  • Bain & Company LinkedIn page

  • @BainInsights (Twitter), as well as @netpromotersys, @BainDigital, etc.

  • Bain Insights Facebook page

  • Bain & Company YouTube page

  • Bain & Company Instagram

  • Support and explore additional social channels as appropriate

Social media reporting

  • Create and maintain campaign-level performance tracking across all primary social media channels.

  • Build automated regular reports and ensure that all social media campaign tracking is fully integrated into the Marketing Department’s general campaign tracking efforts

Social media coordination and vendor management

  • As Administrator of the Sprinklr system, maintain controls and act as social media advisor to other departments (PR, Recruiting, Local Offices) to ensure that they are using Sprinklr consistently with Marketing Department, Editorial and Board-mandated guidelines for quality control.

  • Work with other departments that are heavy social media users within Bain (PR, Recruiting) to ensure efforts are coordinated and consistent

  • Coordinate with local marketing contacts in offices around the world on social media best practices and posting

  • Directly manage Twitter and LinkedIn profiles and posting for key partners and train key partners on social media.

  • Actively monitor and track all Bain Partner Twitter activity, flag behavior that poses reputational risk and proactively offer help and continuous improvement.

  • Coordinate closely with the PR department to ensure that @BainInsights and @BainAlerts are consistent and complementary

Other duties as required

  • Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications or Publishing required

  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred

  • 5 to 8 years professional journalism/writing experience in an online publishing environment

  • Minimum 3 years of experience using an enterprise social media management platform (Sprinklr or similar)

  • Experience working in a B2B or professional services firm strongly preferred

  • Experience with Sprinklr strongly preferred

  • Strong business background, ideally from working in general business press

  • Direct experience working in EpiServer or similar content management system

  • Strong writing and editing skills with deep understanding of business concepts and management consulting, as demonstrated through writing samples

  • Excellent business judgment

  • Deep knowledge of social media best practices, platforms and tools

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively within and across teams and influence others and to:

  • Communicate with key stakeholders effectively in an open, honest and direct fashion

  • Generate solutions, not just identify problems

  • Demonstrate a high commitment to customer service

  • Maintain a high degree of team spirit, pitching in where needed and respecting all contributing members of the team

  • Strong internal results reporting and communication skills to keep key stakeholders informed

  • Self-starter with strong organizational, project management and multi-tasking skills

  • Basic HTML knowledge

  • Familiarity with Google Analytics
